Lenovo ThinkPad E480: First Impression

Lenovo ThinkPad E480 is the latest offering by the company under Business Laptop segment. The new Lenovo ThinkPad E480 laptop offers premium specifications like 8th Gen Intel® Core™ i7 Processor, AMD Radeon RX 550 GPU and 14” HD (1366 x 768) narrow bezel display.

Let’s take a quick look at the specifications of Lenovo ThinkPad E480

Design

Lenovo brings the Thinkpad 480 in two display models. One model features a 14” HD (1366 x 768) narrow bezel with antiglare while the other one has 14” IPS FHD (1920 x 1080) narrow bezel with antiglare. You can also choose between meta and plastic covers as per your choice. It weighs almost 1.75 kg with the covers.

With the given specifications and build,  ThinkPad offers a truly a durable body with an impressive sleek design. Also, the device is almost 20mm thick in width which gives us an ultra slim body. The narrow bezel at the tight corners gives it a premium finish. In the end, the sturdy metal cover over thin and lightweight body makes it easy to carry and use everywhere.

Talking about the Keyboard panel, Lenovo sticks to the old yet handy layout with almost similar design and built. Still, they’ve added a new the latest generation of touch fingerprint sensor with MoC makes logging in much faster with complete security. The trackpad also seems smooth and responsive.

Performance:

The Lenovo ThinkPad E480 is powered by the latest Intel® 8th Gen processing with
M.2 PCIe SSD or SATA HDD or optional dual drive storage and up to 32GB of memory ensure unhindered performance. The CPU is supported by Windows® 10 Pro (64 bit) Operating System and 2GB AMD Radeon RX 550 Graphics card. With our initial usage, we found the laptop to be fast and smooth. All the hardware and software combinations seem pretty good.

The ThinkPad E480 comes with several Input/Output Ports including, 1 x USB 3.0 Type-C, 2 x USB 3.1, 1 x USB 2.0, HDMI, Micro SD Card, Headphone and microphone combo jack and RJ45. The WLAN connectivity features up to non-Intel 2×2 11ac and Bluetooth® 4.1. It also comes with Docking support with USB 3.0 dock and USB 3.0 Ultra Dock. The full-function USB Type-C port also allows the users to connect any of the latest devices from smartphones to printers.

Security:

Lenovo ThinkPad E480 also features additional security options apart from FingerPrint Sensor. All your work stays safe with the optional hardened touch fingerprint reader, standard dTPM 2.0 chip, Windows Hello, and Kensington cable lock slot.

Battery, Audio, and Camera:

The Lenovo ThinkPad E480 comes with a 45Wh battery which offers up to 13 hours of life. The time is not fixed and it may vary with the usage. It also has a 720p camera with dual array microphone, so you can video chat with your loved ones. And it also comes with Stereo with Dolby with Advanced AudioTM for quality entertainment. It is also Lync-certified and offers Smart Audio speaker support to enhance the quality.

Lenovo 65W Travel Adapter is an energy-efficient mobile power adapter that charges Lenovo (round tip) laptops while you’re on the go. The Lenovo USB-C to HDMI Plus can be easily connected to an HDMI display and simultaneously charge your system. And the ThinkPad USB-C Dock is a universal docking solution ensures a high-performance workstation.

Overview:

Lenovo ThinkPad E480 seems to be a sturdy and affordable laptop. The specifications are great and so it the design. If we compare it to the previous Lenovo T480, we may see very small differences. However, at a price point of INR 57,496 + GST, it’s a great deal to go with.
