Samsung upgrades its wearable series to the new Samsung Gear S and Gear Circle

Samsung Gear SSamsung has recently launched the Gear S which is all set to attract a whole lot of customers. The new device is much better than the older wearables which couldn’t work independently from the smartphone.

Samsung Gear S_1The new Gear S has an innovative curved AMOLED display. The display size is 2 inches which also features beautiful and easy to use interface. The resolution of the incredibly clear display is of 360 x 480p. The new design of the Gear S smartwatch comfortably fits around the wrists of the users. The customizable screens and straps gives the users to match the device to their own personal style. The Gear S also sports a new OS, i.e., Tizen from Samsung, which is much more easy to use than the conventional Android, as promised by Samsung. Physically the device stands at 39.8 x 58.3 x 12.5 mm only.  The device has a dual core processor clocked at 1 GHz which is more than sufficient for such a small device. The device has 512 MB of RAM along with 4 GB of internal storage is more than sufficient for the smartwatch.  In terms of connectivity the smartwatch has 2G, 3G, call, Bluetooth call, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, A-GPS/Glonass, Bluetooth v4.1 and USB 2.0. It is equipped with pedestrian navigation capabilities, accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, ambient light sensor, compass/magnetometer, UV monitor and a heart rate monitor. The smartwatch also sports a QWERTY keyboard to directly reply to the text messages. The camera is capable of snapping pictures at an impressive 720p resolution. All of the hardware in the smartwatch is powered by a 300 mAh Li ion battery that will last for 2 days of typical usage as claimed by Samsung. The device will come pre-loaded with a bunch of fitness and navigation apps like S Health, Nike+ running, HERE maps and others. The smartwatch is also IP67 certified water and dust resistant.

Samsung Gear CircleAlong with the Gear S smartwatch Samsung also announced the Samsung Gear Circle which paired with a smartphone, users can easily receive calls, listen to music, and make voice commands in style through a Bluetooth connection. It features a magnetic lock which clasps around the user’s neck when not in use, as well as a vibrate function to signal incoming calls and notifications.
