At a price tag of just 12,999 Xiaomi has launched a big beast in the market. The smartphone comes with a premium build quality and high spec score at a much lower cost that all other phones. The phone was sure a great device to have but let us check out that it really worthy the Beast title.

Build and Design:

The smartphone comes with fully poly-carbonate rear panel with smooth curved edges similar as Redmi 2.  It’s a really light weight smartphone (130gm) and can be used with singe hand. It has premium build looks with thin bezels around the display.

The front panel has MI logo at the left of the top, mic is at the middle beside of front camera. Capacitive buttons are under the screen display with LED lights with vibrations feedback. The back panel has soft matte finish with MI logo at the bottom over the speakers.

The 3.5mm jack is at the top and the micro-USB is at the bottom of device. The SIM card tray is on the left edge and the volume rocker keys is at the right edge along with the power buttons.

Display:

The Xiaomi Mi 4i comes with 5-inch IPS LCD display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution (441 ppi). The screen display is really amazing and colours are sharp and vibrant. The new Sunlight Display is really helpful to auto adjust the screen brightness as per the sunlight rays. The screen display is protected by OGS Corning Gorillas Glass Display.

Hardware and Software:

The smartphone is powered by 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (2nd gen) quad-core clocked at 1.7GHz and another quad-core clocked at 1.1GHz. The SoC is paired with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with MIUI 6 on the top. It offers a lot of customization setting including new theme installation. The smartphone doesn’t come with lots of Bloatware unlike other device and the UI is good and works fine.

The smartphone comes with 16GB of Internal storage out of which user will get 12.7GB for use also there is no memory card slot options here.

It comes with connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and OTG. Other than this it is a dual-SIM phone with 4G LTE connectivity on both.

Camera:

The rear facing camera comes with 13-megapixel camera with dual tone LED flash features with 5-elemeant lens with f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera takes a descent photos but not been able to capture a good amount of detail. You’ll find the quality while zoom in the photos. But the camera is best in under the 15000 segment phones. It takes good photos in daylight modes and in even in low light mode.

The front camera is of 5-megapixel is really good for selfies and video calls. It takes a really good image in both day light and low light mode. The enhanced beauty modes are available there for better qualities.

The camera app is similar as other Xiaomi phones but has little extra modes for better shoots.

Performance:

The performance and touch response of the device is amazing and we didn’t find any type of lag in it. Although multitasking while playing gaming high end games may give you little trouble but it didn’t matter a lot. The phone is perfectly able to do multitasking with lots of apps simultaneously.

We played high end games like Asphalt 8, Dead Trigger 2 and Modern Combat 5 and didn’t find any lag whole playing. However there is some heating issue with the device while performing core activities.

It scored 37134 and 23716 point in AnTuTu Benchmark and Quadrant Standard Benchmark respectively which a pretty good score for the smartphone.

The call quality on the device is good and we didn’t find any call drop in it. The music and video playback of the device is good and with the given enhanced audio setting you can adjust it with your own. The smartphone is able to play 1080p video smoothly.

The 3120mAh battery is amazing it gives almost a full day battery life with moderate usage and up to 12 hours with high use. We played 4 continuous movies in and it still has 16% battery left.

Gizmo Verdict:

With the price tag of 12,999 it surely wins in 15K segment. The amazing performance with a good battery is what everyone needs. The main issue in the device is heating and 12.7GB memory that you can’t expandable. If the storage and heat is not your problem then you can go for it. In my opinion this is the best phone in 15K segment and you can go for it.
