ZTE launches its new Nubia franchise as Z9 mini at a price tag of 16,999 INR which is a good price point for a mid-range smartphone. The given specs with device is interesting. Let’s see if the device performs well with the given specs and worth to buy?

Build and Design:

The smartphone comes with a good looking poly carbonate glossy rear body for the black color variant. It feels little slippery to hold in hands. The size and weight of the smartphones is acceptable and pretty good.

The front panel comes with mic and front facing camera at the top and its capacitive buttons at the bottom of screen, especially the middle button of rounded shape gives it a classy look.

The rear panel has camera and flash at the top left edge and Nubia logo at the center aligned horizontally. The left edge has the dual-SIM tray which accepts nano-SIM. The 3.5mm audio jack is at the top and the microUSB port is at the bottom. The speakers are at the bottom edge.

Display:

The ZTE Nubia Z9 mini comes with 5-inch Full HD CGS display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution. The screen display is really impressive as the colour reproduction is sharp and vibrant. The viewing angles of the smartphone is good and I didn’t faced any type of problems. The bezels of the device are thin and give a good design to the device.

Hardware of Software:

The smartphone is powered by 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB of internal memory and can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

The smartphone runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Nubia UI 2.8 on the top of it. The UI of the smartphone is good and didn’t lag any times. It also has lots of customization modes like MIUI also it comes with very less bloatware like other smartphones. It’s a dual-SIM smartphone with 4G LTE. Other connectivity options available in the device are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

Camera:

The rear camera has 16-megapixel camera with Sony IMX234 Exmor RS sensor, f/2.0 on the top, 6P lenses and LED flash. The camera captures really impressive images.  The taken images has very good amount of detail and light. The autofocus of the camera is also very strong and helpful for shooting good photos.

The low light performance of the camera is also very good.

The front facing has 8-megapixel camera and supported by Sony IMX179 Exmor RBSI sensor with 80-degree viewing angles. The performance of the camera is really very impressive.  The camera takes good amount of detail in it and takes very good selfies.

Performance:

The overall performance of the smartphone is good and I didn’t find any type of lag in it. The touch as well as the UI performance is also impressive. I run several apps, browses settings and played games and it handled everything with great ease.

Heavy games like Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 5 runs very well in it and I didn’t find any type of slowdown or lag in it.

The smartphone has 3000mAh of battery which is impressive and gives a full day battery backup to the users. The simple user will be able to use it for even more than a day with a single charge.

The call quality of the smartphone is also good and I didn’t find any call drop or any kind of disturbance. Sound and as well the video quality of the device is pretty good.

Verdict:

The ZTE Nubia Z9 mini is yet a little bit costly but it worth your buy. If you can invest a little more money than 15K to get a good performance smartphone, you can go for it. So in my view it worth your price.
