Best cameras of 2016

2016 has been a great year for cameras. There were lots of different cameras that were launched this year; some were major ones while others were just newer versions of the old models. It must be noted that it is almost impossible to find the best camera as everyone has different needs and we can’t list a single camera that will cater to everyone’s needs. We have tried our best to diversify the list to include the best ones across different categories.

Canon EOS 1300D

A couple of years back when Canon launched 1200D, it was the talk of the town. That camera emerged to be a popular one among the beginners, thanks to its affordable price and Canon’s marketing strategies. Canon then launched the successor for the same with similar pricing and addition of useful features such as WiFi and NFC. The Canon EOS 1300D comes with an 18 MP APS-C size sensor. It uses DIGIC 4+ for image processing and comes with an ISO range starting from 100 till 6400 which can be further expanded up to 12800. The 1300D has a nine-point Auto Focus system that has a cross sensor at the center. The camera comes with a 3-inch 920k-dot LCD.

Canon 80D

In the high-end segment, Canon decided to add an upgrade to the 70D and launched a new version called 80D. The 80D comes with a new 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor. This camera features a 45 point autofocus system, all of these points have cross type sensors. 80D uses Canon’s DIGIC 6 image processor. It also boasts Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus mechanism that can be used while video recording. It has a 3-inch fully articulated touchscreen. Other connectivity options include built-in WiFi and NFC.

Nikon D5600

D5600 is one of the midrange DX-format cameras that as been launched by Nikon. It comes with a 24MP CMOS APS-C Sensor. This camera uses the EXPEED 4 by Nikon for image processing. It must be noted that the D5600 doesn’t come with Optical Low-Pass Filter. This camera can track subjects in 3D, thanks to the 39-point AF system. D5600 also boasts a 3.2 inch fully articulating touch screen with 1.04m dots. It provides an ISO range of 100-25600 and 5fps burst shooting. There is also an optional GPS variant that you can get.

Sony RX100-Mark IV

Sony’s RX100 is one of the most critically acclaimed series of cameras. It is pretty popular among camera enthusiasts, thanks to its compact size and an amazing set of features. The Sony RX100 IV is the fourth addition to this series. It comes with a 20MP CMOS EXMOR RS sensor. The stacked design of the sensor frees up more space that allows high-speed circuitry to perform more complex functions. This tiny camera can record 4K videos, but that sets the maximum clip length to 5 minutes. This camera is also capable of recording 40x slow video at 960fps. Just like the previous RX100s, this one also comes with a 24-70mm equivalent lens and provides a pop-up viewfinder. This 4th generation camera also houses an upgraded OLED panel with a 2.35m dot resolution.

Sony A6300

Sony has been releasing some nice cameras recently, and the Sony A6300 is a perfect example of that. The camera has a 24.2MP APS-C Exmor CMOS Sensor which is paired with a BIONZ X Image Processor. It also has a really nice XGA Tru-Finder 2.36m-Dot OLED EVF viewfinder, and when it comes to the screen, you will find a 3-inch 921.6k-Dot Tilting LCD Monitor. The screen is perfect for viewing the photos and the menu options. It’s a mirrorless camera, so if you’re looking for something in that range, this camera is the way to go.

Terming a particular camera as the best camera of a year is practically impossible as what might be best for me may be useless for someone else. If you think we missed an important camera, then do let us know in the comments section below.
