Honor tops the online smartphone market with 23% share in China

Honor registered 18.8 percent y-o-y growth to reach the first spot

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has come a long way since its inception in 2013. Targeted at the digital-only youth, the brand has always been ahead of the curve with its smartphones, and now it seems that the results of the same are for everyone to see. In the month of January 2017 alone, the brand reportedly sold 2.02 million units in China. The statistic comes from the Sino-Market research firm as per which the company saw growth of 18.8 percent y-o-y.

Honor has been able to topple the status quo, with the Apple of China now sitting at the second place. It sold 1.94 million units to gain 22.1 percent market share. With the fierce competition in China, the numero uno manufacturer Samsung was relegated to the ninth position with just 2.5 percent share.
