Redmi Note 8 series, Redmi 70-inch 4K TV, Updated RedmiBook launched in China

After the ever so successful launch of the Redmi Note series, Xiaomi has decided to keep up its pace by introducing newer and more cutting-edge devices under the brand name “Redmi”. The company has just taken the drapes off their 8th generation Redmi smartphone. The Redmi Note 8 Pro as it’s called, packs the latest specifications under an affordable price point. 

Redmi Note 8 Pro:

The smartphone comes with a 6.53-inch LCD with a dot drop notch on the top. The Dot drop notch is home to the 20-megapixel selfie camera that packs all the AI goodies for better selfie. Rear camera unit, on the other hand, boasts of a quad camera setup capable of 25x Zoom with its 64MP Samsung made GW1 (f/1.7) sensor, 8MP Ultrawide lens, 2-megapixel macro video camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The smartphone is powered by a recently launched MediaTek Helio G90T processor and comes with a liquid cooling setup to keep the thermals in check. It packs a 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 18W quick charging 3.0. 

The device is slated to receive Gorilla Glass treatment on both the front as well as the back for added protection. The device will run on Android 9 Pie OS with MIUI 10 running on top. In terms of storage, the device will be offered in two configurations – a 6GB RAM+ 64GB, 6GB+128GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB (UFS 2.1) storage options. 

The smartphone comes in White, Jade Green and Electric Grey colour scheme and is priced at:

  • RMB 1399 (approximately Rs 14,050) – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage
  • RMB 1,599 (approximately Rs 16,050) – 6GB RAM + 128GB storage
  • RMB 1,799(approximately Rs 18,060) – 8GB RAM + 128GB storage 

Redmi Note 8

Redmi Note 8 uses the same 6.39-inch display as the Pro variant with a Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC underneath. The device gets an added protection of Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front as well as the back. Rear camera unit, on the other hand, boasts of a quad camera setup of 48MP sensor, 8MP (120°)Ultrawide lens, 2-megapixel macro video camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. 

The device will be offered in 4/6 GB RAM + 64/ 128 GB storage with optional support for microSD card. This standard version comes with the similar 4000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging (Type-C) out of the box. 

The smartphone comes in Black, Blue and White colors and is priced at:

  • RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,025) – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage
  • RMB 1,199 (approximately Rs 12,150) – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage
  • RMB 1,199 (approximately Rs 14,035) – 6GB RAM + 128GB storage 

Updated RedmiBook with 10thGen Intel Processor 

RedmiBook which was launch sometime later in May 2019 gets a new update with its 10th Gen Intel i7/i5 processor. This processor update lends an additional 13 per cent performance boost over the previous generation model. The laptop comes with a 14-inch display with 81.2 per cent screen-to-body ratio and comes with a full-sized keyboard. It includes connectivity options such as HDMI, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The laptop weighs in at 1.5kg and supports a fast charging feature which tops up 50% battery in under 35 minutes.

Redmi TV 

Alongside the Redmi Note 8 series, Xiaomi also launched its smart TV under the brand name Redmi. It comes with a large 70-inch 4K screen with HDR support. The TV offers minimal bezels and packs in 6thgen quality engine powered through its quadcore 64-bit Amologic processor. It includes features such as Patch wall, AI-Voice and Bluetooth control. The speaker system is a cavity design with support for Dolby Atmos for immersive sound performance.
