Sony PlayStation 5 Specs Released: Eight AMD Zen 2 Processor, Custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU, Faster SSD and More

Its 2020 and we can’t wait for our next-gen gaming consoles. After Microsoft, released their spec sheet, Sony stepped in and released their own spec sheet for the upcoming PS5. The revealed spec sheet is somewhat similar to the Series X, with 8-core AMD Zen 2 based CPU, RDNA 2 based GPU and 16GB GDDR6 RAM alongside the latest Tempest 3D audio engine.

As per the company’s statement at a recent conference, the PS5 will pack an 8-core AMD CPU based on Zen 2 architecture with SMT and will have a clock speed up to 3.5GHz. The GPU, on the other hand, would use an RDNA 2 based unit with 36 custom computes to render 10.28 TFLOPs. Internals also includes a 16GB of GDDR6 RAM complemented with custom 825GB NVMe SSD that would be connected to the main processor via a four-lane PCI Express 4.0 interconnect.

Other features on top of this cutting-edge hardware is the Intersection Engine for enhanced ray tracing while a Tempest Audio engine to process high-quality sound presence and locality. The conference also highlighted a lot about the experience the company has set their eyes on instead of just packing the new PS5 with raw powerful specs.

As of now, there is no word on the pricing or launch front, but these recent uptakes sure nudge our hopes towards an impending launch sometime later this year.
