E-reader seriously?
Amazon has announced the new version of its Touchscreen e-reader gadget, by the name of Kindle Paperwhite, in the Indian market. There are 2 different versions for Kindle Paperwhite, one is Wi-Fi only and the other one is 3G+Wi-Fi.
The new models are successor to the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G models that were launched in India June 2013. The new ebook readers include a higher contrast display, a better inbuilt light, a better processor, improved touch sensors, and a few software upgrades.
The new software features integration with Goodreads, a book lovers’ which will allow Kindle users to see what their friends are reading, sharing, and rate the books they read with other Goodreads users.
The device features a new child-friendly mode called FreeTime that uses inbuilt parental controls to give parents a way to encourage kids to spend more time reading. A progress report keeps parents updated on total time spent reading; number of words looked up, badges earned and books finished.
New Smart Lookup integrates a full dictionary definition with other reference information about a word, character, topic or book via X-Ray and Wikipedia.
Technical specifications include a 6-inch display and 8 weeks battery life (with wireless off).
The WiFi-only version of the device is available at a price of Rs 10,999, while the 3G+WiFi version costs Rs 13,999. Pre-orders for the device are started on the company’s India website. The shipping of Kindle Paperwhite will begin from first week of February 2014.
