Amit Gujral_ProfileLG G4 made headlines as it is the flagship of LG and having a unique Leather premium back, we thought to know LG a little more and the plans for the future. This is an exclusive interview with Amit Gujral, Marketing Head, Mobile Communications, LG India

Gizmomaniacs: What is the response of your recent launched Flagship LG G4 in India?

Amit: LG G4 is doing well; the fans and users love the device and specially the camera. So far so good, we hope to continue to make our technologies in tune with consumer expectations. (Feedback is positive).

Gizmomaniacs: Why did you opt Snapdragon 808 processor, with Hexa Core? And why not Snapdragon 801 or Snapdragon 810 processor?

Amit: We already came with Snapdragon 810 in LG Flex 2, and LG was making G4 with 808, way ahead of Flex 2. It was not pre-planned that Flex 2 came earlier and then came G4. And in the G4 all the six cores (hexa core) are working simultaneously. So, LG G4 is a powerful device and not comparable due to cores.

Gizmomaniacs: How you are taking your competitors in the market? As a treat?

Amit: We are open in the market and we have no issues with other competitors. We believe in our products – just to give you an example, we are proud about the fact that LG devices have the least Field Failure Ratio (FFR) in the industry. Our objective is just to work hard and focus on our goals for maximum consumer satisfaction.

Gizmomaniacs: Are you going to come exclusive on ecommerce portals like Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal?

Amit: No plans at the moment.

Gizmomaniacs: What are your plans for mid-range smartphones?

Amit: LG Magna, Spirit, G3 Stylus, Fino & Bello are doing well. Soon you will hear some more new mid-range smartphones coming in the market.

Gizmomaniacs: When are you planning to bring Fitness band or Health tracking band?

Amit: As we are already focused on Health, you can check the LG smartphones which comes with preloaded LG Health which serves as a fitness band in itself. We will bring not only fitness band, but, a complete smartwatch which will do everything and you will see it soon.

Gizmomaniacs: How is LG Flex2 is doing and what about its future?

Amit: LG never sees the Flex series as just smartphones. It is a different concept altogether and it’s a true innovation in the field of curved screens. The LG G Flex2 is more than a smartphone which comes with POLED display and has Full HD display on it. It is doing amazing and it will come with more innovations and will keep bending rules of smartphones.

Gizmomaniacs: What are your plans of made in India thing?

Amit: LG already has infrastructure in place in the form of two world class manufacturing units in India, one in Greater Noida and another one near Pune. Make in India for LG Mobiles will happen when LG feels that it is a profitable move not only for LG, but also for all its stakeholders. We are still evaluating options in this regard.

Gizmomaniacs: How are you targeting the youth in India?

Amit: We learn a lot from youth. We know how they love to show off, basis the research we do before coming up with any of our smartphones. So therefore, we give them back what we learn from them. Which you can see in the Magna, Spirit with little bend. Even LG comes with a very cool features like taking selfies showing palm gesture, by pressing the volume down key for 10 seconds and even you can take pictures with screen (display is off).

Gizmomaniacs: Are you planning to encourage the app developers and game developers in India?

Amit: We always welcome the developers and ideas. We take feedback seriously for the improvement of our wide range of devices.

Gizmomaniacs: We have seen VR in Tech Show 2015 and Tone Infinim, so what are you doing for accessories?

Amit: Yes, we are trying our best to bring more accessories. All the current accessories are welcomed by our consumers and more are coming in the future by LG.

Gizmomaniacs: We have also seen LG AKA in Tech Show 2015 in India, when can we see that in market?

Amit: LG AKA is a concept device that we had showcased during the LG Tech Show 2015. We are working on it and hopefully will bring it in the market very soon.

Well that’s all, Thanks for the time.
