Introduction
The Poco X7 Pro 5G—has officially hit the markets, and it stands out as the more compelling half of the newly released X7 duo. Its impressive specs combined with a competitive price make it a textbook example of bang for your buck.
The Poco X7 Pro 5G represents a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the X6 Pro 5G—a rare feat in today’s smartphone space. It debuts with an IP68 rating (and IP69 in select markets like India), making it the first Poco device with full ingress protection. Under the hood is the brand-new Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset, boasting an All-Big-Core CPU architecture and upgraded GPU performance, backed by an improved cooling system.
It retains the 6.67-inch AMOLED display from the X6 Pro, with a sharp 1220p resolution, 12-bit color depth, 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. The panel is now brighter and protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.
Photography is handled by a dual rear camera setup: a 50MP Sony sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide camera. On the front is a 20MP selfie shooter. The previously included 2MP macro camera has been dropped—a change most users won’t miss.
The Indian variant is packed with 6,550mAh battery and support 90W fast wired charging.
Running the show is HyperOS 2, based on Android 15—the latest version.

Design, Build, and Handling

The Poco X7 Pro 5G opts for a flat-edge design, in contrast to the curved Poco X7 5G, resulting in a more secure and comfortable grip. It sports a flat Gorilla Glass 7i front, a matte plastic frame, and a choice of matte plastic or eco-leather back, all wrapped in an IP68-rated (and sometimes IP69) build for added durability.
Around the back, the design gets a stylish two-tone treatment—a subtle shift from matte to polished finishes—with the signature yellow version standing out thanks to a black eco-leather section. The camera module has been streamlined since the X6 Pro 5G, now featuring just two lenses in a compact elliptical bump, giving the phone a cleaner, more modern look.
Despite its plastic construction, the X7 Pro 5G feels solid and premium. Its dimensions (160.8 x 75.2 x 8.3 mm) are identical to the X6 Pro 5G, though it weighs slightly more at 195g.
On the front, the phone features a punch-hole selfie camera, an earpiece doubling as a stereo speaker, and an under-display fingerprint sensor that works reliably.
Ports and cutouts are neatly arranged: the bottom houses the USB-C port, speaker, and mic; the top includes another mic and the IR blaster. The X7 Pro 5G looks and feels like a well-built, thoughtfully designed device.
Display
The Poco X7 Pro 5G features the same stunning display as the X6 Pro 5G and X7—a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a sharp 1220p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 12-bit color, and support for both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, this screen is built to impress and delivers:
- Typical brightness: 700 nits
- Maximum brightness: 1,400 nits
- Peak brightness: 3,200 nits
Additional display highlights include a 480Hz touch sampling rate for ultra-responsive input and 1920Hz PWM dimming, which helps minimize eye strain during extended use.
In testing, brightness levels closely matched the advertised specs.
- Manual max brightness: 524 nits
- With sunlight boost: 883 nits
- Auto peak brightness: 1,265 nits
- Minimum brightness: Just 1.7 nits (excellent for low-light use)
The screen supports a wide color gamut and streaming platforms like Netflix correctly detect Dolby Vision and HDR10+ compatibility.
As for refresh rate behavior:
- 120Hz and 90Hz modes are available
- 60Hz is used for static images and some apps
- 30Hz appears only for the Always-On Display
Battery Life
Our Poco X7 Pro 5G unit features a 6,550mAh silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery.
In our active usage tests, the phone scored 14 hours and 43 minutes—decent, but underwhelming given its battery size. It excelled in video streaming and call endurance but was average for web browsing and gaming.
Charging Speed
The X7 5G Pro supports up to 90W HyperCharge. Any USB-PD charger rated 90W or higher will unlock its full charging potential—no need for a Xiaomi-branded adapter.
With a compatible charger, we reached:
- 49% in 19 minutes
- 83% in 35 minutes
- Full charge in 48 minutes
Charging modes include: standard, top-speed (default), smart overnight charging, and an 80% battery protection cap.
Speakers
The stereo speakers, with Dolby Atmos enabled by default, deliver solid sound. The top speaker doubles as an earpiece and is quieter, but overall balance is good. Loudness matches the Poco X6 Pro 5G—rated “Very Good”—with rich highs, decent vocals, and a touch of bass.
Software: HyperOS 2 (Android 15)
Running HyperOS 2 on Android 15, the X7 Pro 5G offers a smoother, more refined take on MIUI. Xiaomi promises 3 OS updates and 4 years of security patches.
Notable features:
- No default app drawer (a first for Poco, though it can be enabled in settings).
- AI-powered tools throughout the system, including:
- Google Gemini for creative tasks, suggestions, and image generation.
- Circle to Search (coming soon) and Google Lens.
- Notes app AI (summary, proofreading, translation).
- Gallery AI tools (Image Expansion, Erase Pro, AI Sky).
- AI Interpreter and AI Subtitles for live translation.
Multitasking includes split-screen and pop-up apps. HyperOS also retains Google Discover or Xiaomi’s App Vault for the -1 home screen.

- Portraits: Solid subject separation and background blur. Zoomed portraits suffer from sharpness loss.
- Ultrawide: Average detail, decent colors, and dynamic range. Low noise.
Selfies
The 5MP base resolution is upscaled to 20MP, resulting in soft, low-detail images with focus inconsistencies.
Low-light
- Main cam: Performs well with Auto Night Mode—low noise, good color, and detail.
- 2x Zoom: Standard crop and upscale.
- Ultrawide: Soft, low-detail shots with a red tint but minimal noise.
Video Recording
- Main camera: 4K@60fps looks great—sharp, detailed, low noise, true colors, excellent dynamic range.
- 2x Zoom: Upscaled, but decent.
- Ultrawide: Acceptable quality.
- Low-light 4K: Excellent detail and color.
All modes support always-on EIS, which performs exceptionally well, even with zoom.
Gizmo Verdict
The Poco X7 Pro delivers unmatched value for its price. With a flagship-tier Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset, a vibrant 120Hz AMOLED screen with Dolby Vision, incredibly fast 90W charging, and polished HyperOS 2 software enhanced with smart AI features, it’s an easy recommendation for anyone looking for premium performance on a budget.
The IP68-rated design adds durability, video stabilization is rock-solid, and little bonuses like the IR blaster continue to make Poco devices stand out. Day-to-day use is smooth and responsive, thanks to HyperOS 2’s refined UI and efficiency.
The only real caveat? The camera system. While the main camera is solid with decent 2x zoom and low-light capabilities, the ultrawide is average, and the selfie camera disappoints, especially at this price point.
Still, if your main priorities are raw performance, display quality, and fast charging, the Poco X7 Pro stands out as one of the best choices in its price segment.
