Canon’s Kicks Off 2020: Next-Gen EOS R5 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera and New RF Series Lens in Works

Canon just announced the arrival of their latest full-frame mirrorless camera called the EOS R5. This recent unveil also insinuates the company’s pledge towards delivering a new series of RF lenses with the state-of-the-art technologies cultivated through all these years.

The new EOS R camera can essentially shoot a high-speed 8K video and downsize to create 4K edits which seemed to draw a lot of criticism from its earlier variant. Moreover, the changes this time around has made the camera more functional, operable and reliable at the same time. All this was possible due to the enhancements made in the CMOS sensor, which opens up fasters and capture bursts at 12 fps (Mechanical) / 20 fps (Silent Electronic Shutter). This quickness will especially come in handy while shooting fast-moving objects in the wild.

Canon has fixed some underlying issues faced with the earlier EOS R model as the new R5 packs high-performance co-ordinated image stabilization (IS) system that works in tandem with the lens stabilization to give users more consistent shots. To top this all off, the camera will also feature dual media card slots with support for automatic transfer of image files from the device to the cloud platform.

Lastly, Canon commented that they are working on a total of nine RF lenses to be released in 2020, that includes a 1.4x and 2x telephoto extenders and an RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens. As of now, we don’t have any word on pricing strategy for these devices but one could catch a piece of the action as the company flaunts the EOS R5 at the CP+ Camera and Photo show held in Tokyo from February 27th to March 1st.
