iPhone get ready!
Samsung is planning revive its flagship to combat the tough rivals in the major markets by its new Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Samsung is facing tough competition by its local competitors of South Asia namely Micromax and Xiaomi. But to again thrive on to their market share they have unveiled their new flagship device to be soon launched in all 150 countries next month. The first reviews and snaps of the device are started to come up on the net.
Samsung has retained its signature Galaxy design in this device as well but the new part is that it has gone more metallic this time. The new flagship device is just 6.7 mm thick. Instead of all metal design like its top competitors Apple and HTC, Samsung chose a rubberized plastic back cover for the Galaxy Alpha. The rubberized coating at the back gives better grip and eliminates chance of slipping from hands, which is certainly desired by users. Audio jack of 3.5 mm has been placed at the top with micro USB at the bottom. The volume rockers are at the left and the fingerprint sensor is just below the home button.
The Galaxy Alpha is expected to have a 4.7 inch 1280×720 pixel Super AMOLED screen with Samsung’s own Exynos octa core processor (quad 1.8GHz + quad 1.3GHz). The incredible processor is coupled up with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage; we have found no micro SD card slot for storage expansion whatsoever. The primary snapper is of 12 MPix and secondary camera is of 2.1 MPix. The camera supports HDR, Panorama, Selective Focus, Dual Camera, Beauty Face, Virtual Tour and other renowned features as well. The hardware of the device is powered by 1860mAh battery, which is not to the level what we expected. On the connectivity side there is support for Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, NFC, Bluetooth v4.0 and USB 2.0. The hardware is also equipped with finger print sensor and heart rate monitor. Accelerometer, Geomagnetic sensor, gyroscopic sensor, proximity sensor, gesture and HR sensors are also present in the device. The device weighs just 115 grams.
On the software side the Alpha will be running on the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS along with TouchWiz UI. Software features like Ultra Power Saving Mode, Download Booster, Quick Connect and Private Mode also baked inside the OS.
The Galaxy Alpha will be released in five colours namely, black, white, gold, silver and blue. As per rumors Samsung will be launching the device in late August or September 2014. The pricing details are still unclear but we expect this flagship device to cost €599 or approximately INR 49000.
