Coolpad Dazen 1_Back

The Coolpad Dazen comes to India with its new budget smartphone Dazen 1 which is ready to compete with the other entry level Android smartphones. The smartphone comes with attractive hardware specs like 2GB of RAM and 5MP front camera. Let’s find out it is worth of each penny or not?

Dazen 1 comes with smooth matte finish (as we got Snow White for review) at the back with a solid plastic material with a good quality build. It has 5-inch HD IPS display with 1280×720 pixels like Yuphoria which lets you to use the smartphone with one hand. The viewing angles of the smartphone and during sunlight the display of the screen is visible. The smartphone doesn’t come with Gorilla Glass protection such as Redmi 2 and Yuphoria.

Hardware and Software:

Dazen 1 is powered by 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 410 processor with 64 bit architecture, with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and expandable up to 32GB.

Dazen 1 runs Android 4.4 KitKat with CoolUI on top of it. The CoolUI look and feel similar to MIUI, the UI is robust and stable. As the UI comes with few tricks and has easy user Interface. The UI performs fast and no bloatwares are present in the CoolUI except Snapdeal app. The OS takes 4GB of storage out of 8GB internal storage. The device does not support OTG which is not a big deal but a disadvantage.

Camera:

The smartphone comes with 8MP rear camera with decent performance and gives sharp images not only in sunlight but also manages to take good images under lowlight. The colour reproduction is good. The lens gives a decent depth of focus and the details come out well. The images taken by the front camera is good.

Performance:

The 2500mAh battery comes with the patented technology of 50% conserve battery, which makes the smartphone worth to buy. The smartphone lasted for one and half day. The smartphone can last for more than 2 days with normal usage.

The RAM gives better performance compared to all of its competitors. The Antutu and Quadrant Standard benchmark are 8297 and 11047 respectively. You can play Asphalt 8 with no hiccups. The speaker is placed at the back and gives really good quality. The call quality of smartphone is good and we didn’t find any call drop.

Gizmo Verdict:

The 2GB RAM and 5MP front camera gives you better performance and selfies. Coolpad is a new brand in Indian market but Dazen 1 can be a kick start. The registrations already crossed 1 lakh for the first flash sale and hope it will meet the demand and supply to customers. If you have a doubt, our take is this is one of the good smartphone under 7K.
