Gionee GPAD G5 – Review

Phablet by Gionee!

Gionee Gpad G5 ReviewGionee, the leading handset maker, specializing in thin smartphones has recently launched another addition to their GPad series the Gionee GPad G5.

As far as the specifications of the new smartphone are concerned the GPad G5 has a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen having a resolution of 720×1280 pixels which shows vibrant colours in snaps and videos. The touch response is good. The smartphone is equipped with a 1.5GHz hexa core processor based on the Cortex A7 architecture which gives fluidic performance in all apps. The processor is coupled up with 1GB of RAM which can run medium resource consuming apps with ease. The phone may struggle with some graphic intense games. But for the regular usage the smartphone handles the apps very well. The on board storage provided is of 8GB which is sufficient for average user. However the storage can be expanded to up to 32GB by the help of micro SD card. The primary camera provided is of 8MP which captures decent photos. The flash is of good help in low light conditions. The front facing camera is of 2MP which captures good snaps for Instagram and facebook. The snaps taken don’t have noise at all and the colours captured are good. On the connectivity side the smartphone has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB, 3G and dual SIM standby. The smartphone has compass/magnetometer, proximity sensor, accelerometer and ambient light sensor. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. However we expect Lollipop upgrades soon on the device. The GPad G5 is powered by 2400mAh battery which is sufficient enough to power the device for a day for an average user.  The loudspeaker given has good volume levels and no crackling has been observed yet. The overall quality in the smartphone is also good.

As per our verdict the build quality of the smartphone is robust and the customized UI of Gionee on top of Android is responsive and gives a seamless performance. In the particular price tag we have a lot of competitors but the GPad G5 is a good choice if you are an average user and need a robust smartphone. The smartphone is available at leading e retail websites and is priced at around INR 13500.
