New budget smartphone, let’s get into detail!

Infocus M2 ReviewInfocus is American tech based company. The smartphones are manufactured by world’s largest manufacture company Foxconn. The Infocus M2 will be available on ecommerce website Snapdeal for Rs. 4,999. The hardware and software are not only competing entry level smartphone but also mid-range smartphones.

Look and feel

The Infocus M2 looks good and easy to use with one hand 4.2-inch LTPS screen. Those who like small screen smartphone not phablet this is the ideal phone. The back panel of smartphone is available in matte finish and will be available in Black and White colours. The smartphone supports Dual SIM and both micro SIM’s. The Power button or Wake up key is on the right, Volume rocker key is on the left, 3.5mm audio jack on top and micro USB port is at the bottom.

Specs and Software

The Infocus M2 sports 4.2-inch display with 1280×768 pixel resolution, the display is really good in such a price tag which is unexceptional. The viewing angles and colour reproduction is good. The touch is smooth and responsive.

The screen is scratch resistant to some extent as it is not mention in the box, but screen guard would be preferred option. The smartphone has LED notification in front and speakers are at the rear end. The smartphone comes with 1.3GHz ARM quad core processor. It has 1GB of RAM with 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. User will get 440MB free RAM and 5.1GB free user data space. OTG is supported by smartphone. Some apps are movable to external SD card. It comes with 2010mAH battery capacity.

The smartphone is running on Android 4.4.2 with InLife UI which runs smoothly with no lags. The handset supports power saving mode and Hinglish Keyboard (Hindi and English). The Audio effect app which is preloaded app lets to enhance the audio quality.

Camera

M2 sports 8MP rear shooter with auto focus, LED Flash and 8MP front shooter with auto focus, LED Flash. The rear camera is pretty good as it comes with beauty mode, panorama mode, HDR, Smile shot, Face detection, voice capture and burst mode. The front camera has LED flash which is always on and if required can be switched off. The front camera is average. The rear camera can shoot video at 1080p but the file format is .3gp.

Performance

The Antutu and Quadrant scores are 18643 and 7131 respectively. The game play is very smooth in normal and medium games. High end gaming is not that smooth. The sound is loud and clear, when audio effects is enabled the sound loudness decreases. The call quality is good too. The 2010mAh non-removable battery gives 5 to 6 hours on heavy usage.

Gizmo Verdict

The InFocus M2 is the best available budget smartphone in market for just Rs. 4,999. And the key features are the price and screen quality. Performance is above average and camera works well with the price point. It is definitely a good smartphone to buy at given price tag.
