Intex Cloud S9 Review

Intex Cloud S9

Intex Cloud S9 is a new 4G LTE smartphone by the company with major upgrades like Fingerprint Sensor and 3650mAh of massive battery at a price tag of just 6499 INR. The smartphone is a direct competition to the all smartphones under 7K category. Let’s check out the performance of the Intex Cloud S9, whether it hold on and makes its position on the list of top 7K range smartphone or not.

Design and Build:

The Intex Cloud S9 features a smooth furbished plastic coating body. It seems a bit slippery to hold but the size of the smartphone and weight corresponding to the battery size seems convenient. The design seems classic with violet shade cover and the build quality is sturdy. Overall, it is a bit slippery but easy to use smartphone.

The rear panel consist of a camera and flash along with the fingerprint sensor just below them. The Intex logo is at the center of the smartphone. The front panel has a mic, camera, flash and sensors at the top of the display. There is three onscreen buttons provided in the smartphone. The bezel size is not too thin or thick just perfect. Rear panel pops up and has two micro SIM card slots, one microSD card slot and a removable battery slot.

The edge is covered by a silver plastic covering just like any metal covering. The micro-USB port and 3.5mm audio jack is at the top edge. The volume rocker keys and power button is at the right side edge. At the bottom there is two speaker ports. The overall design of the smartphone is impressive and good to keep.

Display:

The smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. The display is not the best in this class but gives satisfactory performance. It can be seen under different viewing angles but it struggles under direct sunlight.

Hardware and Software:

The Intex Cloud S9 is powered by quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB of inbuilt storage out of which only 11GB is free for the user. There is an expandable microSD card slot to expand the memory up to 32GB.

Talking about the software, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. There are several bloatware present in the smartphone like Intex App store, Daily Hunt, Fun Club and some of the games like- Double Driver, Candy Bubble and 2 more. Overall they all consumes a lot of data and storage.

Performance:

The touch response of the smartphone is good but it struggles some time while multitasking. There is no additional UI on the top of Marshmallow.

The low end games are playable but it struggles with the high end games like Asphalt 8 and Dead Trigger 2. The benchmark scores of the Intex Cloud S9 are 29199 and 13162 respectively in AnTuTu and Quadrant Standard. These scores are the not the best in this class but acceptable.

The Fingerprint sensor is not acurate. It is packed up with 3650mAh of massive battery. The battery performance of the smartphone is satisfactory but here the quick charge features is missing which takes long time to charge which is approx 4-5 hours. The sound and video quality of the smartphone is just average.

The call quality of the smartphone is good but I suffers a lot of times by the call drop, not just with one but on both the SIM’s. The incoming and outgoing call voice also seems a bit low and difficult to hear and understand them.

Camera:

The Intex Cloud S9 sports 8-megapixel rear facing camera which shoots good images. It lacks the details but the colour contrast is good. The low light performance has lots of noise, LED is given with the camera but it is slow in response. The front camera is of 5-megapixel and it also has a LED. It shoots descent selfies in day time but again here the low light performance is average.

Gizmo Verdict:

The Intex Cloud S9 is good on paper but somehow lags in real world. As far we know Intex goes through off line retail chain and has lot of customer service center which is actually a bonus for customer these days. The good point of the smartphone is Intex tried to cover all the aspects like battery, fingerprint sensor, light weight and good design built quality.
