Kult Ambition Review

Kult comes with the 3rd budget smartphone!

Kult Ambition is the latest offering by the company. The smartphone comes at an attractive budget price of 5,999 INR. The smartphone offers 5-inch HD display, 3GB of RAM and Metallic Chassis Body. The previous smartphones by the company were decent. Let’s see where is it stands with the other competitor in our review.

Design and Build:

Kult Ambition comes in Black colour metal unibody, like most of its previous smartphones. The size of the smartphone sure seems handy but the weight makes it a bit difficult to hold and use. Kult Ambition comes with curved candy bar shaped design. The rear panel is pop-able and one can see the two SIM card slots and a microSD port at the top. The battery is removable, which can be useful for replacements. The rear camera is bumpy and is placed in the top along with LED flash while the logo is placed at the bottom.

The front part has camera and sensors at the top, 5-inch display with very thick bezels and on-screen buttons, while the bottom is clean and clear. The power button is placed at the right side along with volume rocker keys. The 3.5mm Audio and micro USB port is on the top side of the edge. The speaker grills are at the bottom. The design and built may seem elegant and sturdy but the heavyweight is a big disappointment.

Display:

Kult Ambition features a 5-inch HDdaylightwith 720×1280 pixel resolution. The display is supported the y 2.5D curved glass on the top of it. The 720p display seems poor and you need to max the brightness to use the smartphone. The icons may seem crisp but the colour contrast is average.

Specifications:

Kult Ambition runs on quad-core MediaTek MT6737 chipset clocked at 1.25GHz with paired 3GB of RAM and Mali-T720 GPU. There is 32GB of inbuilt storage out if which users get 22GB of free space. While the 3GB RAM will offer 1.5GB to use. The smartphone supports 4G VoLTE and has connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB.

On the software section, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with stock apps. The Skin is clear and almost like the Stock Android. There are very few additional bloatware like Amazon Prime, Opera Mini and Amazon. The UI is clear and good to use.

Performance:

The initial touch response is good but when the processing increases as you install more apps and use more apps, the performance lags. This same happens with the multitasking. You’ll find lag on using several apps in the background. The smartphone is only good for minimal usages.

The gaming section is average. Users can enjoy small games like candy Crush or Subway Surfers. High end games like Asphalt 8 lags. There is heating issue with this smartphone if your gameplay exceeds more than 20 minutes. The fingerprint response is good.

The benchmark scores aren’t very good. It scores 29185 in AnTuTu which is acceptable. The Geekbench score is 578 in Single Core and 1603 iMulti-Corere. The 4G VoLTE and Wi-Fi connectivity work very well. The Audio and Video performance is not great but acceptable.

Camera:

It sports a 13-MP rear camera with LED flash. The camera captures good images in daylight. It has a decent amount of details and the colour combination was good. The low light performance struggles but the provided LED makes it great.

The front camera is of 5-MP and it captures acceptable selfies. They have decent colour tone and saturation level. The camera offers few modes like Panorama. HDR, Beauty and Video Mode. The modes offer very minimal helps to enhance the performance.

Battery:

Kult Ambition houses a 2600mAh battery with this smartphone. The battery optimization aren’t the best and it offers very less battery life. In my moderate usage it offer 6 hours of battery life. The battery life is good if you’re a minimal user.

Overview:

Kult Ambition is a basic smartphone with very minimal options. The design and build is good although the performance section is poor. The Camera section is good but the battery is poor. It has equal amount of pros and cons. If you’re a minimal user with very basic usage you can go for it but if you want a good all rounder, this is not for you.
