Xiaomi dominates the Indian wearables market with its 46% share. It clocked a quarter-over-quarter growth of 31% which exhibits the trust that the company has managed to build through its reverent Mi band series. Cost still takes the centre stage in India where emerging millennials prefer cost as opposed to brand loyalty.
The Mi Band 4 was unveiled at an event in China as it has promised earlier. The Band has a 0.95-inch AMOLED colour display which was part of a rising consensus among the current users. The screen size is jacked up by a healthy 39.9% to make room for more data, while a 2.5D glass ensures it remains scratch free.
It packs a list of 77 different watch faces that users can choose from. A 5ATM water resistant body ensures it can dive up to 50 meters without any hitch. They employed a Photoplethysmography (PPG) technique to monitor heart rate in no time.
The Mi Band 4 comes with a sophisticated 6-axis high-precision sensor that can support a total of 6 sports modes, that can track data in real time. It packs the latest Bluetooth 5.0 LE for low power consumption and better connectivity.
An optional NFC variant supports Alipay in China. This variant also features a built-in microphone with Xiao AI voice assistant that can control Xiaomi Smart Home IoT accessories.
They also managed to release a special Avengers edition Mi Band 4 with custom dials matching wrist bands for Captain America, Avengers and Iron Man.
Pricing
The Mi Band 4 will come in Black, Brown, Blue, Orange and Pink colours, and is priced starting 169 yuan for the normal Band, 229 yuan for NFC variant and 349 yuan for Avengers edition. There are no hints as to its India launch but we expect the Mi Band 4 to be launched before the end of July next month.
