Mi just took the drapes off their latest iteration of Redmi-Y series with the Manu Kumar Jain, Managing Director, Xiaomi India doing the unveiling. Jain builds up the launch on top of the exotic numbers the company has managed to clock in the few years, with a hope of establishing its presence over more than 10,000 retail stores across India.
The launch introduced the newest Redmi Y3 smartphone which was teased through the past coming weeks. The 32MP selfie camera is the highlight feature upon which the company hopes to draw some fruitful numbers considering its targeting the selfie millennials. The device sports a flamboyant gradient design and packs a 6.26-inch HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The screen can churn out a max brightness of 450 nits with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to protect it against occasional drops. Xiaomi refrained from mentioning the processor variant, however sources tout it to be a Snapdragon 632 SoC.
Coming to its USP that is the camera, it packs a 32MP super selfie camera with dual camera setup at the back comprising of the 12MP+2MP unit. Xiaomi has introduced AI beautify 4.0 feature that tweaks the images for better quality and overall contrast. The camera app has an option for Auto HDR and electronic image stabilization for the selfie camera as well. The MIUI camera app in the MIUI 10 comes with integrated Google lens support.
Xiaomi has bummed up the battery to a 4000mAh cell which company claims to provide a standby time of 3 days. The Redmi Y3 has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dedicated IR Blaster on top. The device features a sophisticated software-based 360-degree Face recognition Unlock functionality. Other highlights include a triple slot of two nano-SIM cards + microSD card slot & a P2i nano-coating ensuring dust and water resistant.
It will be offered to start Rs.9,999 for the 3GB+32GB & Rs.11,999 for 4GB+64GB storage and will be available offline via Mi stores and online through Amazon & Mi online from April 30 via sale. It will be offered in three colour schemes namely the Elegant Blue, Bold Red and Prime Black.
