Microsoft Surface Duo, Surface Neo, Surface Pro X and Earbuds Announced

Microsoft held a jam-packed event this week where the company announced a range of exciting products which the company had been working for three years now. The biggest of all announcement came through Microsoft’s decision to ditch their OS in the implementation of new products that come with Google’s immensely popular Android OS.

Here’s a rundown of everything that was announced at the event:

Microsoft Surface Duo phone

Microsoft decided to re-enter the smartphone market with its latest surface duo smartphone. This Twin 5.6-inch display seems similar to ones on the Galaxy Fold as it separates the two with a noticeable hinge at the centre. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, the Surface Duo does not merge the two screens which is clever seeing the sort of problem Galaxy Fold faces.

The device runs on the Android operating system as opposed to windows OS and comes as a pre-launch for the developers to take a hands-on approach to design apps that take advance of that dual-screen real estate. Microsoft also showed a video explaining the potential benefits of the purported device as a vision into its foreseeable future.

Microsoft Surface Neo

The Surface Neo comes with two separate displays that fold together but work independently of one another. This allows the ability to run one app on one screen and another app on another screen for multitasking. Users can use a hardware keyboard and utilize the rest of the screen as a trackpad for better control.

The entire device is just 5.6mm thin through the use of worlds thinnest LCD ever created. It’s protected by a Gorilla Glass to keep it strong and durable. The Surface Neo runs a new version of the operating system called the Windows X which supports multiple displays working in tandem to each other. The Neo runs on an Intel Lakefield processor which helps to keep the form factor thin.

The device is set to be launched sometime later next year.

Microsoft Surface Pro X

Microsoft unveiled their new Qualcomm-powered Surface Pro X 13-inch laptop at the event. The new laptop has a similar two-in-one form to it with its detachable keyboard as earlier.

The Surface Pro X measures in at just under 5.33mm in thickness which makes it extremely light at 1.68 pounds. Despite this form, the laptop offers features like a removable hard drive and a small dock for charging the Slim Surface Pen. There is a custom AI chip present in the laptop which adds fun little features such as eye contact mode that mimics the user seeing looking at the camera for life-like video calls that seems to be quite creepy.

Surface Pro X preorders begin today for $999 and it will begin shipping from November 5.

Microsoft Surface Earbuds

Apart from the traditional laptops and smartphones, Microsoft also announced their new Surface Earbuds at the event. The earbuds directly compete with Apple Air pods with their cool look and feel. The earbuds offer over 24 hours of battery life and are compatible with Android and IOS too. The body allows for smart touch-based gestures for picking up a call on double tap and sliding across the surface for functions such as play, pause, skip or volume change.
