OnePlus’ Carl Pei on the OnePlus 3, Dash Charging and more

What comes with OnePlus 3rd edition?

OnePlus 3_1OnePlus started two years ago, and within such a short time, it became a super hit by giving high-end hardware specs in mid-budget pricing and coining the term ‘flagship killer’. The  invite system also brought a lot of attention to the Chinese startup. After the success of the first edition, the OnePlus 2 came with a fast fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port and brought forth the best specs again. Now, the company is back with the third generation flagship killer, the OnePlus 3.

The OnePlus 3 is loaded with not just decent, but excellent specs like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and unique Dash charging technology (faster and safer than Fast charging).

Why OnePlus 3 is different from its previous family members?

Some key changes and highlights of the Oneplus 3 are:

  • Metallic unibody design instead of sandstone finish
  • Dash Charging
  • Finger Print sensor (with ceramic finish)
  • Camera Bump with steel ring and polished with 0.1mm height
  • Invite-free sale
  • NFC
  • Software Enhancement (Shelf feature, dark theme, buttons)
  • Whooping 6GB RAM

We got a chance to interact with the Founder Carl Pei, here are his thoughts about their latest offering-

We focussed on one smartphone (no more OnePlus X) which is the flagship. We are doing well and getting a good response for OnePlus 3 smartphone. This time, we have made sure that customers can get the smartphone without any hassle. We have done a lot of work in each and every detailing of the smartphone, for example – the camera bump has a steel ring which is little bumped above camera and polished so that users don’t get the cuts.

We asked why the Dash charger cable gives OnePlus less charging time than any other USB Type C used?

Carl said- We have somehow managed to pass the extra amount of current through the cable, that is why it is little thicker than other Type C cable.

What OnePlus rolled in the new update?OnePlus Update

It is a 396MB update rolled via OTA which includes:

  • Fixed notification issues
  • Addressed SIM recognition issue
  • Enable sRGB mode in developer options
  • Improved RAM management
  • Improved GPS performance
  • Enhance audio playback quality
  • Improved camera quality and functionality
  • Updated Custom icon packs
  • Fixed some issues in Gallery

The OnePlus 3 suggests how far the OnePlus has come in such a short span of time. The smartphone not only challenges its peers but even established flagships from the likes of Samsung and Apple.
