Despite being around the corner of Q3 2019, OPPO decided to launch their next generation of A-series smartphone called the OPPO A9 2020 and OPPO A5 2020. The A9 flaunts a 3D design that looks catchy yet ergonomic at the same time. It comes with a 6.5’’ waterdrop screen with a screen-to-body ratio of 89%. The screen is protected by a Gorilla Glass 3+ and comes with a blue shield filter to cut down the harmful blue light emitting from the display.
The camera setup of A9 has been endorsed for its versatility that it achieves through its 48MP Primary lens + 8MP Wide-angle + 2MP Mono lens + 2MP Portrait unit. This setup allows for various shooting angles in various scenarios. The setup is capable of shooting 4K video with vivid colour saturation and less latency due to its EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) Technology that ensures stable and professional videos. The smartphone includes a 16MP AI front-facing camera with beautification mode for better selfies.
The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 with optional 4/8GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The memory can be beefed up to an additional 256GB using a three-card slot that accepts two nano-sim and a microSD card. The company bundles its Game Boost 2.0 for an immersive and faster gaming experience through its features such as Frame Boost and Touch Boost. The device runs on the ColorOS 6.0.1 operating system built around Android 9.0 Pie. It features smart functions such as Smart Assistant, Riding Mode, Music Party and Gesture Navigation.
The A9 offers a long-lasting battery life with its 5000mAh unit that offers support for reverse charging. This unit can power the device for 20 hours of continuous operation or two days’ worth of average use. Additionally, the A9 comes equipped with a dual stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos sound effect that complements the Gaming prowess of the device.

OPPO A5 2020:
Besides the midrange offering, Oppo also dedicated its efforts in updating the slightly toned-down version of the A9 smartphone called the A5 2020. The screen size is similar to the A9 with its 6.5’’ Nano Waterdrop display that too comes equipped with Gorilla Glass 3+ and Blue Shield technology. The smartphone now comes with a Quad Camera setup of 12MP Primary + 8MP Ultra-Wide + 2MP Mono Lens + 2MP Portrait lens on the back. The selfie camera is dialled down to an 8MP unit instead of a 16MP unit on the A9. The smartphone is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 with the only change being the availability of optional 3GB/4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The device runs a similar ColorOS 6.0.1 operating system build around the Android pie 9.0. It features a similar 5000mAh capacity battery which effortlessly glides through your everyday usage.
