Design and Build Quality

The Qubo Smart Outdoor Security Camera has a unique, attractive and elongated design in white color. There is also a microSD card slot in the stand. The base has a matte finish and also find a reset button and a micro-USB port at the back. The whole body is sturdy polycarbonate. It has a solid build quality and 6.2×6.2×14.85 cm. Hero claims it is can stand on all-weather and meant specially for Indian conditions as it has an IP65 rating.

Qubo Smart Outdoor Security Camera installation and setup

It comes with a flat base plate, screws and plastic screw caps in the retail box. Using the screw mounting on the base plate will make it a permanent fix and can be put in the desired location.

Connect the camera to a USB power source, which has a 5W adapter in the package. Once AC power is connected, an LED indicator will be on and a voice cue that it has been activated. In our unit, it also did the firmware update and got notified with the voice command. To start the live video feed you will need to install the Qubo app which is available for Android and iOS app store.

Users will be required to enter the Wi-Fi credentials in the app. It worth mentioning that the Qubo Smart Outdoor Camera works only with a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band and the 5GHz band is not supported. Later the app asks few permissions and does a search to connect with the QUbo Smart Outdoor camera. Once the device is paired the app will take a few minutes to allow access to the live feed.

The entire process is very simple and can be wrapped in 5-10 minutes. It is also very easy for those who never used the security cameras before, the app guided step by step.

Qubo Smart Outdoor Camera Quality and features

It comes with 110° FOV, 10x Digital Zoom, 180° Mirror Flip, Video Format – .H264 and Video resolution 1080p 30 fps, 1W Speaker, 128GB micro SD storage, and Night Vision Support. The quality is surprisingly good as compared with its competitions. The camera captures an ample amount of light in our test, which retains the quality of the video and gave a good output. The 110° FOV gives too much area to capture and the night vision gives an amazing output too. The edges of objects were fairly clear and there was also a good amount of detail in the images and videos we captured, especially when compared to what we’ve seen with security cameras from companies like Godrej. There is another feature called ‘Full-color with low-light that tries to retain as much colour in videos and images.

Recorded video is stored in the external microSD card and in Cloud. The Cloud Storage has three options Gold Plan (Monthly – ₹99 and Yearly – ₹599), Platinum Plan (Monthly – ₹149 and Yearly – ₹899), Diamond Plan (Monthly – ₹199 and Yearly – ₹1199) with few minor options in Cloud storage and mobiles logged in. You can choose to record videos in HD or Low quality if you don’t mind losing a bit of sharpness and colour output in order to reduce file sizes. In both modes, the resolution remains the same at 1920×1080 pixels. The same goes for stills captured too.
The interface is clean and neat. You get a Time Lapse video daily which helps you check all day video in few mins. It also lets the user alert if somebody is entering without a mask. The intelligent Secure Car Parking has been specifically developed to help you ensure the safety of your car parked outside. Qubo Outdoor Camera monitors constantly and notifies you as soon as a person is detected. The feature within the camera alerts you about suspicious activity when the AI detects the same and automatically calls your number to alert you, this is the first time seen in the security cameras. It works with Alexa too, which is also an added advantage and makes it in the smart security camera category.

Gizmo Verdict

The Qubo Smart Outdoor Camera is a value for money product. It has an excellent build quality and design, ease of use, loaded with features, and the overall quality of its recorded video is also non-compromising. Currently, it is available for ₹ 5,490 on leading online and offline channels.
