Seagate unveils 5mm 500GB Ultra Mobile HDD

Seagate ultra_1Seagate the world’s leading storage vendor now announced new arrival ultra mobile HDD, designed exclusively for mobile devices and tablets. Seagate’s Ultra Mobile Disk combines a 500GB magnetic hard disk with an 8GB SSD cache.

Today, we all are having problems with less space in tablets. Some HD videos have 1-2 GB size which leaves no space for the other videos. Seagate’s latest offering can solve that issue very well. The Ultra Mobile HDD has the power consumption equal to a 64GB tablet and the performance equal to that of a 16GB tablet. Seagate’s Dynamic Data Driver technology targets shock management, heat and vibration gyroscopic motion, and power consumption.

The drive is very well-insulated, in case of drops, the mobile device’s screen would break before the hard drive is damaged. According to Seagate, these HDD consumes very low power, just 0.14W when idle, nearly  less than most solid-state drives. In design standard 2.5-inch, but is just 5mm thick.
