Smartron t.phone complete review: a good device by an Indian startup

A new Smartphone startup from India launches their own series of smartphone named Smartron tphone. It’s a great device in-perspective of design, compatibility and functions. However the price tag of 24,999 INR seems unfair with it. The key features are 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, Snapdragon 810 SoC and 64GB storage.

The Smartron t.phone features an interesting design, it is made of metal with three different segments adjoined by the curved edges. The top and bottom side are silver in colour while the middle body has reddish- orange in colour. The body is a bit slippery, but the light weight and slim design helps to hold it firmly. However because of its bigger display panel it feels hard to handle with one hand.
At the rear panel, Camera and flash is at the top in between the two segment. Smartron logo is in upper part of the middle segment while the t.phone is written at the bottom area. On the rear panel, the camera, sensor and mic are at top of the display. There is onscreen capacitive touch buttons on the display.photo_2016-10-08_16-11-55
The volume rocker keys are at the right edge along with the power key. The Hybrid SIM card slot is at the left edge. 3.5-mm Audio jack is at the top of the edge and the Type-C port is at the bottom.

Display

photo_2016-10-08_16-11-37The smartphone features a 5.5-inch FHD Super AMOLED display with 1920×1080 pixel resolution. The display screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It has Apical Assertive Technology in it for better display under direct sunlight and it works great. Display is vivid and sharp, and can be seen with different viewing angles.

Camera

It features a 13-meagapixel rear facing camera with LED flash. The camera took descent images in daylight. The captured images contain average amount of details and good colours. Also it takes some time to focus on any object. The low light performance are average, the image lacks colour and has noise in it.
The front camera is of 4-megapixel and it captures good selfies. There face recognition works well and the captured images has true colours with respect to the original faces. The given camera app is good but I feels that the user friendly factor is missing. Also there is only quiet modes given in it.

Connectivity and Battery

storageIt is a Dual-SIM smartphone with 4G VoLTE support on both. I used 4G on Vodafone and Airtel, and I didn’t find any network drop in it. But only one sim can be connected to 4G at a time. It supports Hybrid SIM (micro + nano/microSD) in it.
The Smartron t.phone houses a 3000mAh of battery and supports Quick Charge 2.0 with it. In my usage it gives a good battery durability of 8 hours with moderate usage. With the normal usage it gives me hours 12 hours of running time. The quick charge feature is good and can fully charge the smartphone in about one and half hours.

Performance

benchmark
Talking about the performance part, it runs quiet smoothly. It comes with stock OS Android 6.0 Marshmallow accompanied with 4GB of LPDDR RAM. The UI is minimal and smooth. I didn’t find any type of lag in it in my usage. It holds all the app smoothly and makes multitasking easy. Additionally there is no bloatware in it which is a plus point.
Talking about the hardware specification, it houses a Snapdragon 810 SoC inside it. The smartphone handles hardcore gaming apps smoothly simultaneously with other small apps. I didn’t find any type of lag while Modern Combat and Asphalt 8 in it.
It has 64GB of inbuilt memory out of which user get 53.24GB of free memory. User can also expands the memory up to 256GB via microSD card slot. The Antutu and Quadrant Standard benchmark performance are 41489 and 16959 respectively.

Gizmo Verdict

The smartphone is a very good in terms of design, performance and usage. Just the only problem is the price factor and the camera. If you don’t considers the written specification and just want a good performing smartphone, you can go for it.
