Tecno CAMON iSky Overview

Tecno CAMON iSky is the newest addition to their smartphone portfolio. Tecno comes up with their first Android 8.1 Oreo-based smartphone with the best possible specification set. Apart from it, the main USP of the smartphone is new Face ID which allows you to unlock it with a single glance. Let’s see how it performs in our short review period.

Specifications:

The new Tecno CAMON iSky houses a Quad Core processor clocked at 1.28GHz and coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage with expandable memory card slot. It features a 5.45-inch Full View HD+ display with 960×480 pixel resolution. It supports Dual SIM and has an additional slot for the MicroSD card. It supports 4G VoLTE on first and 3G/2G on the second. It has other connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB OTG. It runs on Android 8.1 OS based custom HI UI 3.3.0. It has 3050mAh of battery but no fast charging.

Performance:

It is loaded with lots of features like Android Oreo, Face ID, Micro Intelligence and Huge Battery. The touch response is average and the storage also seems less but still one can add more to the provided microSD card slot.

The Android O seems a major upgrade and it brings different cool features. The face ID works great at some moments and failed in few. The VoLTE connectivity works fine just like other connectivity options. The sound quality is average even with the headphones which can be a problem for movie buffs. The Full View HD+ panel has colour and contrast but the amount of clarity seems missing. The icons and the transition seem bit faded.

The battery is good if you are a minimal user, moderate users may find it a bit difficult to use it for long. It also lasts for 6 hours in our continuous video loop test. The benchmark performance isn’t great but it scores acceptable points. It has 39635 points in AnTuTu while in Geekbench the score was 584 in Single-Core and 1585 in Multi-Core.

It sports a 13-MP rear and 8-MP at the front camera with flash on both sides. The camera performance is average, both in terms of capturing and the end result. The shuttle seems bit slow and the captured images have low colour contrast. Still, the captured images have a good amount of details. The given camera app is minimal and has very few additional features.

Overview:

Overall the given specifications are good with the price point of Rs 7,499. Tecno CAMON iSky has some really cool features like Android O, Face ID, Full View Display. You can go for it but there are better options in the market.
