The vivo V5 Plus is the ultimate smartphone for selfie addicts. Here’s why

Over the last year, we saw the rise of smartphones with dual cameras at the back. What’s even more interesting is the fact that most companies implemented the pair of imaging sensors in different manners – some use it for giving a wider field of view, while others offer better colour contrast. But how about dual cameras at the front? Imagine how wonderful your selfies will become with two front-facing shooters? Well, that’s what vivo is offering with its latest smartphone, the V5 Plus. In fact, we can go as far as to say that it’s the ultimate device for selfie enthusiasts. Here’s why we think so.

Dual cameras at the front

The vivo V5 was the world’s first smartphone with a 20MP camera at the front. And, with the V5 Plus, the Chinese brand is going to the next level. The phablet comes with a 20-megapixel primary camera at the front, which is complemented by an 8MP sensor.

With the dual cameras, the vivo V5 Plus manages to capture impressive amount of details along with vibrant colours.

The secondary camera helps in capturing the depth information, which means you can get bokeh effects for your selfies. This lets you get sharper selfies, with rest of the background being blurred.

Moonlight selfie

One of the biggest issues with the selfie cameras is that you don’t get good images in dim environments. That’s because there’s no light source for illumination. To take care of the issue, the vivo V5 Plus comes with an LED flash at the front, dubbed as moonlight glow. The best part is that you get the option to use it in the auto mode, where the flash comes on while capturing the image or use it as a fill light.

Versatile software

Not just the hardware, the vivo V5 Plus offers a lot of features with its camera interface. The most useful one among them goes hand in hand with the bokeh effects, thanks to dual cameras. You can change the focus even after taking images. You can also tweak the aperture from f/0.95 and all the way up to f/16, allowing you to adjust the sharpness as per your need. There’s also an HDR mode, which adds more dynamic range to your selfies, and it’s surely quite useful. Interestingly enough, we haven’t seen this mode available in any other selfie camera.

The app also features a beautify mode, which algorithmically enhances your selfies without making them look too artificial.

More than just a selfie phone

While there’s no dearth of selfie-centric smartphones available in the market, they fail to impress in other aspects. The might superb selfies but the same can’t be said about other hardware.

Thankfully though, the vivo V5 Plus is an excellent all-rounder. It’s built around a 5.5-inch display with a full HD resolution. Under the hood, it has a highly-efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, which is mated to 4GB of RAM. For your memory needs, it has a 64GB storage on board. Not just front camera, the rear shooter of the V5 Plus is also quite capable with a 16MP sensor along with a dual-tone LED flash. Fuelling the phone is a 3,055mAh battery. And, all this is packed in a sleek metallic body.

Priced at just Rs 27,980, the vivo V5 Plus costs almost half of other flagships, yet is a loaded smartphone that will surely impress selfie enthusiast in you.
