VIVO NEX: A smartphone where concept becomes reality

A short time ago Vivo’s bezel-less device was leaked online with a moniker Apex. The device is official now and is termed as Nex. The device comes with pretty solid hardware and is already making headlines on the global level. Now following the fresh details we can say that Vivo is all ready to launch the Nex device in the Indian market. The launch is scheduled on 19th of July and will be an Amazon exclusive. The major highlight of the device is its super discrete Camera module. This is the first time we are witnessing a device with this much advancements. Here in this specific story, you will get to know that why we are calling Vivo Nex a distinct and futuristic smartphone. So without making any delay let’s get straight to the facts.

Why is Vivo Nex a Smartphone from Future?

The Cameras like an Eagle’s eye

The major advancement Vivo has done with this device is that there is no visible front-facing camera. Yes, you’ve heard it right to deliver that unbelievable 91.24% screen-to-body ratio Vivo has embedded on the top of the handset. Whenever you switch the front-facing camera on the motors working inside pulls the module out which gives that feeling of being special to a user. Nex is the first smartphone on the planet to use this technology. There is a 12MP+5MP Dual-Camera setup in the rear with Dual-Pixel AF, Dual-tone LED Flash, OIS whereas for selfies an 8MP pop up motorized technology is present. It has four types camera pop-up sound which are Sci-Fi, Machine, Rhythm and Mute. The device can take portrait shots from both rear and front shooters, the rear camera can record 4K videos up to 30FPS, however, we are missing the 60FPS option here.

Using Rear Camera

We would suggest you not going with megapixels count as Vivo this time has opted quality over quantity. The images it takes are comparable to other rivals in this price range. The Camera uses AI which further helps the device to achieve the right colors, brightness, great contrast in almost every situation. Google recently announced that from now the latest devices will come with Google Lens feature embedded in the Camera app. Fortunately, on this device, a user would be getting the Google Lens service direct from the camera menu.

Camera Quality and Features

The primary 12MP Camera sensor in the rear has a Sony IMX363 Exmor RS with Dual-Pixel PDAF AutoFocus technology. As mentioned above the device has a 4-Axis OIS in the main camera, however, the video stabilization is not that impressive. At first look, the Camera UI on Vivo’s FunTouch OS looks overcrowded. The Camera app allows you to capture photos in various aspect ratios: 4:3, 19.3:9, 16:9, and 1:1. Camera modes include Panorama, Face Beauty, Take Photo, Videos, Professional, etc. The images captured in HDR mode, Portrait mode, and normal mode. Images on the device look great, and crisp, etc. The device’s camera is backed by AI which is an advantage. AI sometimes works great and gives you the experience of next generation. The device can only take videos at 30FPS which means no 60FPS option even in the 1080P resolution. The video quality on this seems better than still photos.

Using Front Camera

The above mentioned two solid reasons are responsible for making this smartphone futuristic. It has even passed other sections like performance, looks, battery life with flying colors. Let me give you a quick overview of its specs:

  1. Powering Vivo Nex is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with enormous 8GB RAM.
  2. The device has 128GB ROM along with an Adreno 630 GPU.
  3. A 4000mAh battery which will easily last you a day.
  4. In-Screen Fingerprint Scanner.
  5. A full-view Display with 19.3:9 ratio.

In India, the device will come with the name Nex instead of the Nex S, for more details about the device stay tuned to us.
