Xiaomi joins Make in India program and launched Redmi 2 Prime for Rs. 6,999

Make In IndiaXiaomi joins the Make in India program at a special event today in Visakhapatnam, located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, in the presence of Honourable Chief Minister Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Mr. Amitabh Kant, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP).

Xiaomi has partnered with Foxconn Technology Group to manufacture its smartphones in India. The factory is based in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The choice of location is strategic as Andhra Pradesh is known to have highly skilled technical manpower, an enterprising population and a dynamic emerging leadership – a combination of factors that make the state appealing to high-growth technological companies such as Xiaomi.

The company also announced its latest smartphone Redmi 2 Prime which comes with 4.7-inch IPS display with Dragon Trail protection, Quad core Snapdragon processor 410, 2GB of RAM, 8MP Rear camera with LED Flash, 2MP front camera, Dual SIM with 4G LTE network support. The smartphone comes with Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI v6 on top. It is an variant of Redmi 2 with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.Redmi 2 Prime

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime will be available in White and Dark Grey colours for Rs. 6,999 and will go on sale on Mi.com and across all Mi India partners including Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal starting from today.
