Yu Ace Quick Review: A Great Budget Smartphone for the Price?

Micromax is absent from the Indian market for a while now. They haven’t even presented anything under the YU branding from a long time. In case you didn’t recall YU is the sub-brand of Micromax. This time it looks like the brand is working hard to improve its position. The brand has just revealed its all-new budget device known as the Yu Ace.

If you’ve noticed the competition in the budget segment is seriously tough because innumerable brands are competing to attract consumers. Micromax has also entered this war with their all-new Yu Ace device. It is a made in India device and offers a lot of things in which its contenders are lacking. Our today’s story will highlight some of the best features of the Yu Ace and here you will get to known about its complete specifications. So by going through this small story, you will be able to make a correct buying decision.

Design and Display

Being a budget device you won’t be getting a Glass or Metallic design here. The device has a robust Plastic body. The rear panel of the design is shiny and gives a chrome like a look. The design comes to personal preference as Yu has gone with a different approach with this. Fortunately, the device has a Fingerprint Scanner on the rear panel coupled with a Face Unlocking tech which works through front camera.

The device sports a compact 5.45(inch) HD+ IPS LCD Display with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio. The display has a layer of 2.5D glass over it which adds to its looks. For an affordable, the display is great and will get the job done.

Performance and Specifications

Yu Ace comes powered by a MediaTek MT6739WW Octa-Core processor coupled with a PowerVR GE8100 GPU for gaming. The device comes in two variants: 2GB RAM+16GB ROM and 3GB RAM+32GB ROM. Luckily the storage on the device is expandable via a micro-SD card. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Day to day performance of the device is satisfactory but don’t expect smooth gaming from it, you will often face lags while playing titles like Asphalt 9, PUBG, etc.

Camera and Battery

In the rear, the device houses a 13MP rear snapper with AutoFocus, LED Flash, PDAF whereas in the front a 5MP shooter is provided for selfies. The camera is not something for which you should consider this device. The daylight performance of the camera is satisfactory, however, it gets poor in low light. You can get a far better camera performance on the Xiaomi devices in this budget. Yu Ace is fueled by a mammoth 4000mAh battery with a USB 2.0 port for Charging. The device also supports fast charging.

Conclusion

The device comes in following color options: Charcoal Grey, Electric Blue, and Rose Gold. The price for the device starts at INR 5,999 and for this price, you are getting a good Display, a massive battery, and a clean user interface to deal with.
