The newly launched Yu Yuphoria is a new budget mobile by YU with Cyanogen OS 12. It’s the cheapest CM OS based smartphone at a cost of 6,999 INR. Let’s see if the phone really worth being the best budget phone?

Build and Design:

The Yu Yuphoria comes with a really impressive and stylish body with metallic cover at the edges. But somehow it resembles me with the Lumia 830 with the same metallic edges and big camera at the middle.

The front panel is YU logo at the top center beside the front camera. The buttons are in the screen display and it has thick bezels. The rear panel has big bulgy camera at the top center and YU logo at the bottom above the Speakers. The sim slots and memory card slot is inside the rear panel.

The 3.5mm audio jack is at the top while the micro-USB port is at the bottom edge of the smartphone. The Volume rocker keys and the power buttons are at the right edge.

The YU Yuphoria has 5-inch IPS display with 1280×720 pixel resolution (294ppi). The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display quality is impressive and the icons are well designed. The display can be easily seen under the sunlight and the viewing angle of the device is good.

Hardware and Software:

The smartphone is powered by 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset along with Adreno 306 GPU. It has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt memory out of which user get up to 11.5GB free memory. User can expand the memory via microSD card up to 32GB.

The Yu Yuphoria runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Cyanogen OS 12 on the top. The UI is well designed with lollipop version. The UI is well built and has no bloatware like Intex, Lenovo and ASUS etc.

The Smartphone has very less apps other than google apps like MusicFx, FM Radio, Themer and Scanner etc. In the Themer section user can change the theme properties as well as the themes.

The device supports micro dual-SIM with 4G LTE connectivity. Other options are also available like Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth.

Camera:

The rear camera is 8MP autofocus comes with Omnivision OV8865 sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The daylight shots are impressive with lot of details in it. The colour reproduction and contrast is well. The low light images are not up to the mark.

The front camera comes with 5MP fixed focus camera and takes good selfies. The video quality of the device is good and is capable of taking 720p HD videos. The camera app of the device is similar as the other Cyanogen devices.

Performance:

The device performs amazing and we didn’t find any type of lag in the UI or even in gameplay. We used several apps simultaneously with games and the device didn’t show any type of slowdown.

The Benchmark score of the smartphone are 23425 in AnTuTu and 14290 in Quadrant Standard respectively, which is really impressive. Games like Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 5 runs smoothly and don’t show any lag.

The Yu Yuphoria comes with 2500mAh of battery and holds the potential to run down a full day with simple use, however if you are moderate user it will give you 7-8 hour battery backup.

The sound and video quality of the smartphone is good and the given Audio app in the device allows you to customize a lot as per your need. The call and network quality on the device is pretty well and we didn’t find any call drop.

Gizmo Verdict:

The Yu Yureka stands in the top list under the 7000 INR price segment with its amazing performance and specs. If you want a really good budget smartphone under 7K you can go for it.
