How’s the camera performance of new Honor 9N?

Honor recently released its Honor 9N smartphone in India. But we got our review device a week before the launch to test the camera performance. And here’s our view about the camera performance of budget smartphone Honor 9N.

Honor 9N Specifications:

Honor 9N is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. It sports a dual camera setup that consists of 13MP primary sensor accompanied by a 2MP one for depth sensing and LED flash. The front camera is of 16MP which has F/2.0 aperture. Honor 9N also has the new AR support for selfies.

Rear Camera Performance:

The first spot we visit with our Honor 9N is the Lodhi Garden (New Delhi) in daylight and the camera captures good images with the adequate amount of in-depth details. The color composition with capturing the green plants and trees were good but we find a bit of saturated color tone with the monuments. We also tried different filters and they were good.

The HDR and Pro Photo mode will really help you if you are a photo enthusiast. You can capture an image as you like with all the given settings in the Honor 9N. However, the Wide Aperture mode and Portrait mode captures acceptable images, they were good. The differences with the photo captured by the normal camera and with that modes were very less.

In the evening we went to Raj path to check the low light performance. We captured several images just before the dawn and they were great. They have good details and excellent color reproduction. After the sunset, performance drops a bit. It took more time to focus and the images had noises.

Honor 9NWe move forward towards the Rashtrapati Bhawan to capture mode images where the amount of light was high. We shoot images of the different Bhawan around the Raj path and with adequate light, the results we got were great.

The Night Shot mode is very helpful if you want to capture a Pro image even in the low light condition. But it has one big condition, you have to keep your camera still and steady, a small motion will make your image blurry or out of focus.

The Night trail mode is fascination and we tried it too. The results were not that great but I personally feel that we need a good condition to take that image i.e. proper lighting and the most important, proper positioning too.

Honor 9N also has a Good Food mode which captured the food beautifully. It accurately sensed the different color tone and takes good in-depth details of food.

Front Camera Performance:

The front camera took good selfies in both daylight and low light. All the images we captured also has good details. The only this that missed here is a good portrait mode. Just like the rear, the portrait mode captured average images.

The last thing to notice here is the AR Mode for selfies. As we’ve all seen a lot of AI integration to the camera nowadays. Honor 9N also comes with tons of AR filters which helps you to capture your face with an animated background and cat/dog/bunny faces. It’s a good option and the Instagram and Snapchat lovers will love it.

At last, Honor 9N can be a good companion as smartphone and which can take good shots, also 3000mAh battery helps to last for the entire day easily.
