Oppo has recently introduced its sub-brand in the market known as the Realme. Under this moniker, the brand was earlier having in a total of two devices namely Realme 1 and Realme 2. A few days back the brand has made a new announcement in which two new devices from their house were revealed. One is targeted to the budget-oriented consumers while another one will compete in the below 15K price category. In case you folks didn’t know we are talking about the fresh Realme 2 Pro here. To be honest in this price category hardly any device exists that can offer better or even similar specs.

So if you planning for a new smartphone and your budget is somewhere between 12K-15K then you are at the right place today. Here in this story, we will be covering the review of all-new Realme 2 Pro smartphone. As always the information we will be providing is straightforward and we would not be beating around the bush here. So in all our today’s story we will be discussing the pros and cons of this new device termed as the Realme 2 Pro.

Design and Display

At first glance the device seems to be constructed out of Glass, however, it is not originally glass and the brand calls it “crystal-like dewdrop effect”. The device feels big in size and measure at 8.5mm in thickness. The rear panel of the device is curved at the edges which provides a user with ample grip. The device easily catches fingerprints and smudges which is the biggest con of this design. Front view of the device looks quite impressive and Realme 2 Pro sports a massive 6.3(inch) FHD+ Display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 3. In the front, it has a dewdrop notch design which looks premium for the price and the bezels around the display are quite slim. The colors of the display are vivid and in its segment are probably the best.

Performance

For specifications Realme 2 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660(64 bit) Octa-Core processor coupled with an Adreno 512 GPU. The device comes in three variants: 4GB RAM+64GB ROM, 6GB RAM+64GB ROM, and 8GB RAM+128GB ROM. Fortunately, a user can expand storage up to 256GB’s via micro-SD card. Multitasking on this device is as smooth as a sea breeze. In our tests, we haven’t experienced any lags or glitches. So if you are looking for a device that can eat any task you throw then Realme 2 Pro will be the appropriate device. The hardware of the device is fast and can handle any modern gaming title. We’ve tested Asphalt 9 Legends, PUBG in our tests and they ran super fine. There were no lags even in the highest settings. So we would like to give it a big thumbs up in the performance segment.

Camera

Realme 2 Pro houses a 16MP+2MP Dual-Camera setup in the rear department with Aperture f/1.7, PDAF, whereas in the front a 16MP selfie shooter has been provided. The secondary 2MP sensor in the rear is there to just measure the depth which further helps in capturing those portrait shots. The rear camera gathers ample details, accurate colors, and pleasing dynamic range. The autofocus on the smartphone is pretty rapid. The handset can click some cool depth rich shots in the wide aperture mode though we would be even happier if there will be zero shutter lag in the camera app. However, this thing can be fixed with a software update in the future. The rear snapper can do 1080p/4K videos at 30fps, however, there is no EIS in the 4K mode. The footage is good in ample lighting situation but in the case of low light situation, grains will appear. Image quality from the 16MP selfie shooter is good and offers a number of modes including HDR, Bokeh, Scree-Flash. There is a Sticker mode as well which lets you add AR stickers to your selfies.

Battery and Miscellaneous

Realm 2 Pro runs on a 3500mAh battery but sadly the device misses the fast charging option. On moderate usage, this device will get you through an entire day. The device runs on ColorOS 5.2 which is based on the Android 8.1 Oreo. If you’ve earlier used any of the Oppo devices then you maybe knowing what ColorOS is all about. The UI is very different from what you get from the stock Android, however, the UI has fast animations and is lag free as well. For connectivity, the handset offers almost all basic features including the Bluetooth v5, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB-OTG, 4G VoLte, etc. You can either use Fingerprint Scanner(present in the rear) or relying on Face Unlock is the second option.

Conclusion

According to you should go for this device as it seems to be a perfect marriage of powerful hardware and reliable software. The biggest competitor of the device is Mi A2 and the freshly launched Honor 8X but still, in some major departments, it manages to outshine them. Realme 2 Pro comes in three colors: Black, Dark Blue, and Light Blue. The pricing of the device is as follows: INR 13,990(4GB RAM+64GB ROM), INR 15,990(6GB RAM+64GB ROM), and INR 17,990(8GB RAM+128GB ROM).
