Simple Energy Expands Partnership with Siemens to Accelerate EV Innovation

As India’s electric vehicle market continues to evolve, manufacturers are increasingly turning to digital technologies to speed up innovation and streamline product development. One such example is Simple Energy, which has expanded its partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software to strengthen its engineering capabilities and support the next phase of its EV growth.

The Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler maker has broadened its adoption of Siemens’ cloud-based software solutions to enhance product engineering, improve collaboration across teams, and efficiently manage its growing lineup of electric scooters.

As part of the expansion, Simple Energy is now using a wider range of solutions from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, including Teamcenter X for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Designcenter X for advanced vehicle design and engineering. The company is also utilizing Teamcenter X’s advanced product configurator to simplify the management of multiple vehicle variants and enterprise-level Bills of Materials (BOMs).

This integrated digital ecosystem allows engineering teams to work together more efficiently while maintaining flexibility and keeping development costs under control.

“As our products scale in complexity, we’re strengthening the systems behind how we build them. With Teamcenter X and Designcenter X, we’re able to manage complex variants and large assemblies with greater speed and control – enabling us to accelerate development without compromising agility.”, said Kiran Poojary, chief technology officer at Simple Energy.

“Simple Energy’s expansion of its Siemens’ software footprint demonstrates how customers can scale their digital foundation as product complexity increases,” said Matthew Thomas, vice president and managing director for India, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “Through close collaboration, we are supporting Simple Energy with a fully integrated vehicle engineering and lifecycle management digital thread that helps accelerate innovation and support its growth targets.”

Simple Energy first adopted Teamcenter X to establish a centralized product data management system, making it easier for engineering teams to collaborate. As the company’s EV portfolio expanded, it extended its use of the platform to include enterprise-level BOM management and advanced variant configuration.

One of the key capabilities now being leveraged is the 150% BOM approach. Instead of maintaining separate Bills of Materials for every vehicle variant, the system creates a master BOM containing every possible component and configuration. From this, individual 100% BOMs can be generated for specific customer orders, making it significantly easier to manage multiple product variants while reducing engineering complexity.

To further enhance its vehicle development process, Simple Energy has also replaced its legacy 3D CAD platform with Designcenter X, which integrates seamlessly with Teamcenter X. The new engineering environment offers advanced surface modelling, improved large assembly performance, and comprehensive 3D electrical routing and wiring harness design, enabling engineers to develop increasingly complex vehicles more efficiently.

Another advantage for the EV manufacturer is Siemens’ value-based licensing model, which allows software usage to scale alongside business growth without requiring significant upfront investments.

As competition in India’s electric two-wheeler segment intensifies, digital engineering platforms like Siemens Xcelerator are becoming essential tools for manufacturers looking to bring innovative products to market faster while efficiently managing increasingly complex vehicle architectures.
