Infinix Smart 5 Review – Big Display and Big Battery

Infinix launched another sub 8K price segment smartphone named Smart 5, which is in the addition to Smart series. It is the successor of Smart 4 launched last year and continues the trend for budget value for money. We have used Smart 5 for some time and here is our review after thorough testing.

Specifications

The Smart 5 sports a 6.8-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a waterdrop notch where an 8MP front selfie camera placed. The display has 400 nits of brightness and also loaded with MediaTek Helio G25 SoC. The smartphone packs with 6000mAh battery with supports 10W fast charging

The Smart 5 features a 13MP rear shooter along with a depth sensor. It runs on Android 10 with its own XOS 7 UI. It is available only for 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage variant with the price tag of INR 7,199. Infinix is offering money worth spec, but the question is – Is Infinix Smart 5 worth to buy, let’s find out –

Design and Display

The impression of Smart 5 is a big smartphone with a 6.8-inch HD+ IPS LCD panel with a Waterdrop notch. The display is a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, it feels gigantic at this price range. The display has bezels which are quite acceptable. The display is easily visible in the sunlight and quite good. Infinix is providing curved edges which let to hold better.

The smartphone weighs around 207 gm which makes it a little bit heavy smartphone in the price segment, but it also packs with huge 6000mAh battery. The power and volume rocker keys are placed on the right side of the frame and the SIM tray is placed on the left. The buttons are placed perfectly, just have to stretch a bit for Volume buttons. At the bottom, it comes with a micro-USB charging port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and primary headphone.

The Infinix Smart 5 will be coming in four color variants: Morandi Green, 7° Purple, Obsidian Black, and Aegean Blue. The back is made of plastic with glossy touch. In the back fingerprint sensor is also placed along with rear cameras which look like triple camera setup but actually are the dual camera.

Performance and Software

The Infinix Smart 5 is loaded with MediaTek Helio G25 processor which can be also found on Redmi 9A. The processor can handle everyday tasks quite comfortably. As it has 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage feels a bit low though it has expandable memory 3/4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage option wouldn’t be a bad decision.
The Infinix Smart 5 supports Bluetooth 5, Dual 4G VoLTE as well as VoWiFi connectivity. The network reception was good and we didn’t face any call drop.
Coming to Software, the phone is running on Android 10 Go Edition with XOS 7 UI skin on top of it. XOS 7 UI has plenty of customizations but too much of it in a 2GB RAM-powered device makes the experience sluggish. It has too many bloatware (pre-loaded apps) which in the end makes the phone sluggish as it has only 2GB of RAM, cutting down a few apps won’t be a bad option. The UI is user friendly, but to get a good experience you need to close the background app.

Camera

The Smart 5 sports a rear dual camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor and a depth sensor. It has an 8MP front shooter with a selfie flash. The camera is average, to be honest at this point you can’t expect much out of it.

Battery

The Infinix Smart 5 packs with 6000mAh battery with an HD+ display which helps to push the battery life up to 2 days easily. In the box, it packs with a 10W charger which charges the phone very slow.

Conclusion

The Infinix Smart 5 has a lot of offering from the brand at a less budget. It checks out the big display, a humongous battery, and your budget category. It will be a direct competition to Micromax IN 1B or the POCO C3. Honestly, Infinix Smart 5 is a price worth smartphone.
