Fly Qik Plus – Review

The Fly’s flagship smartphone is worth of cost or not?

Fly Qik PlusFly Mobiles the UK-based smartphone manufacturer launched Fly Qik+ with the other two budget smartphones- the Qik and Snap. This smartphone offers very high specs in low budget price of 6,999 INR. Let’s check out if the phone really a good smartphone for us.

Built and Design:

The body’s design is not so impressive. It has slippery metallic plastic rear panel and makes hard to grip it well. The sleek design is not so good and makes it bit uncomfortable to hold. The rear panel is removable.

The 5-inch screen display is good but not up to the mark. The capacitive buttons here are not visible if the screen display is off or if the phone is locked. Screen response is little slow and sometimes the buttons refuse to work, so you have to tap again & again.

The volume rocker keys are on the left side and the power button on the right side. The microUSB port in in the bottom and 3.5mm jack is on top of the edge.

Display:

The smartphone comes with 5-inch HD display with 1280×720 pixel resolution. The display is average and the viewing angles are good. The screen is not so sharp and lack in clarity. The only good thing here is that it can clearly visible under the sunlight.

Fly Qik Plus_1Hardware and Software:

Fly Qik Plus is powered by 1.7GHz octa-core Mediatek processor. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. The storage can be expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The processing of the device is average and show lag sometimes.

It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, also it comes with very basic pre-installed apps of google. The one of the best thing in this device is that a single bloatware is not present there.

It is a Dual SIM phone both of regular size with 3G connectivity. The other connectivity options are like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and OTG.

It comes with 2200mAh of removable battery. Both the SIM slots are inside the Smartphone.

Camera:

It comes with 13-meagpixel rear facing camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing for the selfies and video call. The rear facing camera is not up to the mark what it says and gives just an average quality shots. In the day time it can able to shoot descent images but in low-light it gives poor photos. It only provides two modes like Auto mode and Face beauty mode. The processing of camera is also slow. The front facing camera is good and capable of taking good selfies.

Performance:

In terms of performance it a not very smooth device. The regular apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, twitter works fine but high multitasking can make it slow. Also we faced problems in Wi-Fi, it gives very low browsing and download speed.

In the benchmark test it scores 28,488 in AnTuTu and 12,058 in Quadrant Standard which is not so impressive.

Fly Qik Plus BenchmarkEntry level games like Subway Surfer, Candy Crush are enjoyable but high end games like Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat shows lag.

The speakers are average but as increasing the volume the quality decreases. The call quality in device is poor and we aren’t able to hear the incoming voice several times even with the earphone. The battery gives a 7 hours battery backup with high use and 9 hours with the moderate. It can be last up to half a day for your need.

Gizmo Verdict:

In our verdict the phone is not up to the mark so you can skip it up and go for others. It sure gives a lot of specs with the budget price but unable to give the performance that expected. You can find other phones like Lenovo A6000, Moto E (2nd gen) or Xiaomi Redmi 2 which are not good in specs but far better than this in performance.
