GOOGLE PHONE`S JUST GOT WAY MORE AFFORDABLE – Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL Launched

Internet giant Google has been making premium devices since the beginning; however, sales have been tepid over the years. Meanwhile, the mid-tier segment has really skyrocketed these past years as companies like One plus, Xiaomi and Vivo ram up their production as they clock far fetching numbers.

Google too wants the piece of the pie, as they announced their newest mid-range premium smartphones at Google I/O 2019. These mid specs toned down version of the Pixel 3 would sure give the company the run for its money.

The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will be available at Rs 39,999 and Rs 44,999 respectively on e-comm platform Flipkart starting May 15.

The Pixel 3a and 3a XL come with a 5.6inch and a 6-inch OLED display that packs a Full HD+ resolution and Pixel’s two-tone design at the rear. The processor on the device is the Snapdragon 670 64-bit octa-core processor paired with a 4GB DDR4 RAM and a 64GB of onboard storage.

The camera is the same one as the one on the Pixel 3, a 12.2MP Dual-Pixel Sony IMX363 sensor with auto-focus, optical + electronic image stabilization and f/1.8 aperture. There is an 8MP fixed focus camera at the front with f/2.0 aperture. 3a models can also capture Time Lapse videos with a feature called the Night Sight.

The phones will be paired with an 18-watt charger, that Google claims can deliver up to 7 hours of battery life on a 15-minute charge and up to 30 hours on a full charge. The Pixel 3a houses a 3000 mAh battery, whereas the 3a XL has a 3700mAh battery onboard.

Other features include Always-On Display for notification icons on the lock screen and Now Playing feature to identifying music title and artist. A newer feature has been introduced that lets you squeeze the phone to launch the Google Assistant, send text, get directions and set reminders using just your voice. The phone comes with Bluetooth 5.0 and hi-fi codecs to provide better support for wireless accessories and also shows the battery percentage in Quick Settings and Bluetooth Settings.

Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will support eSIM technology by storing multiple operator profiles to allow for simultaneous switching between each operator. The two new devices will receive security and operating system updates for three years and will come with Google`s proprietary Titan M chip to help protect sensitive data on the device.
