Honor View10 Review: A Perfect OnePlus 5T Rival

Honor View 10 is the successor of Honor 8 Pro!

Honor brings its new AI-powered smartphone Honor View10 at an attractive price of 29,999 INR. The smartphone features an elegantly designed metal uni-body. Honor promises to give a better taste of artificial intelligence at a budget price. Honor View10 has almost every latest trend coming in the smartphone. Let’s see how it performs in our review period.

Design and Build

Like all Honor smartphones, it has a quite similar design to them but still, the build is sturdy. The metallic uni-body has curved edges with the matte finish at the back. The size may seem bit bigger but as still, one can use it easily, also the light weight makes it handier. Despite the bigger(3750mAh) battery, the phone is very slim.

As we got the Blue colour variant, the back panel seems bit slippery but classy. The dual camera at the top is bit bulgy but the additionally provided cover takes care of it. The Honor logo is engraved at the center. The curvy edges give it very impressive looks. The front panel has a single front camera at the top along with the other sensors. The 18:9 ratio Full View Display is one of the major USP of the smartphone. The curved bezel-less display looks impressive and the similarity with the body design makes it unique.

At the lower, a single multifunctional button is provided which act as home, back, switching button. Also, the Finger Print Sensor is embedded on that only. The speaker grill is located at the bottom edge along with the 3.5mm Audio Jack and Type-C port. The Volume Rocker Keys and the power button is placed on the right side of the edge while the Hybrid SIM card slot is on the left. Overall the smartphone is having one of the finest design we’ve seen this year with great ergonomic and sturdy build.

Display:

Honor View10 features a 5.99-inch full HD+ IPS LCD Full View display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1080×2160 pixels resolution. The bezel-less screen with the Full View display is one of the best display we’ve seen in terms of brightness and clarity. The icons seem crisp and colourful. The brightness may be a bit high at initially but you can control it. The sunlight readability is good and you can see the screen with any viewing angle.

Specification:

Honor View10 is powered by Huawei Hi-Silicon Kirin 970 SoC (4x Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.36GHz + 4xCortex-A53 clocked at 1.8GHz) and an i7 co-processor. There is 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The storage is fixed and can’t be upgraded. Along with the Finger Print as a security, the user can also unlock the smartphone by Facial Recognization. The smartphone supports 4G VoLTE and has other connectivity options like Type-C OTG, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

On the software section, it runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with its custom skin EMUI 8.0 on the top of it. The UI is clean and has lots of customization but still, the feel of Oreo is missing. There are very few additional apps provided which is a good point.

Performance:

The Honor View10 runs smoothly in every situation whether it’s Gaming, Multitasking or Camera. The 6GB of RAM works efficiently with the paired chip-set. The touch response is amazing, the multitasking is fast and the apps run without any lag.

The High-End Games like Asphalt 8 and Modern Combat 5 runs smoothly, without any lag. The games are really enjoyable with blazing fast touch response and great graphics. The fingerprint response is quick but the facial recognization suffers in low light.

As the SoC is of the top notch, the benchmark score was pretty good. It scores 178638 in AnTuTu while the GeekBench Score was 1917 in Single Core and 6814 in Multi-Core.

The 4G VoLTE connectivity works fine and there was no call drop issue in it. The other connectivity options also work fine. The Video and Audio quality of the smartphone is really impressive and enjoyable.

Camera:

Honor View10 sports a 20+16MP AI-powered dual primary camera and 13MP front-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture. The rear camera module has one lens that has an RGB sensor and one is a monochrome. The performance of the camera is really impressive, as the AI helps to choose best modes if Auto Mode is on. There are several modes in the camera like Portrait, Night Mode, Pro Mode and many more. All the modes work fine and produce a good image. Additionally, AI enhancements help to focus the lens on the main objective, cutting out the edges on portrait etc. Overall the camera has everything which is needed to capture good images.

Battery:

It houses a 3750mAh of the battery which delivers more than one day of life. There are different modes like Ultra Saving for extending the battery life as needed. The type-C port allows the device to fast charge quickly which is a plus point.

Overview:

Honor View10 at a price point of 29,999 INR offers great usage, performance and durability. It has a good battery and a great camera. Along with these, it comes with AI that learns with your usage and helps to create a better environment for your usage. With all these, it really justifies your price and can be a good option if you don’t want to go for One Plus 5T.
