Nokia C30 Review: Big Display, Battery and more

The Nokia C series is an entry-level budget smartphone in the Indian market. The company’s latest smartphone is the Nokia C30 which comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage variant and is priced for Rs. 10,999. It comes with an exclusive Jio offer which can provide an extra Rs. 1000 off for Jio customers only. The budget smartphone in India comes with too much competition in this segment. Let’s find out whether Nokia C30 is a worthy competitor or not in this review?

Design and Design

The Nokia C30 is a large device that can come in a phablet segment and distinguishes itself from the competition. It comes with a large display of 6.8-inch from the front and bezels around with Nokia branding on the chin. Build quality of Nokia smartphones are always strong, sturdy and don’t feel cheap built. It is a unibody polycarbonate body, the buttons are placed high which makes it unusable with just one hand. Nokia still uses a micro-USB port at the bottom and a headphone jack on the top. The Nokia C30 has a decent display for media consumption and the drawback is HD+ resolution which lacks WideVine L1 certification which means only SD content on OTT platforms.

Camera

The Nokia C30 from the back has a dual-camera setup with the primary one being a 13MP sensor and the secondary being a 2MP sensor. The dynamic range and exposure handling of the camera are not up to the mark compared to the competition. The focusing speed is fast but the processing speed is taken a long time. The colors appear to wash out in most pictures, to get better results would recommend doing a tap to focus. The night photography is poor and dedicated low light pictures are not usable. The front camera has a 5MP sensor that works decent in good lighting conditions and sharpens facial details.

Performance and Battery

The Nokia C30 has a heartbeat of an octa-core Unisoc SC9863A SoC which is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Working with multiple apps and browsing with different tabs in Chrome gives no hiccups and runs smoothly. It can handle small games, intensive graphic games are not recommended to play. If RAM is not cleared regularly you might find apps crashing. It runs on Android 11 Go edition which is a lighter version of Android 11, the software experience is smooth and it doesn’t have any bloatware which is an advantage. The device packs with a 6000 mAh battery which can run for 2 days easily with a single full charge. It comes with a 10W charger in the box which takes nearly 3 hours to do a complete charge.

Gizmo Verdict

The Nokia C30 delivers a good experience with a big display (6.8-inch), clean software experience and long battery life. The design might be chunky to many and performance is okayish till you don’t push boundaries. The camera performance and experience might let down a bit. It might give a tough competition to few a competition in aspect of display, battery and software experience and may fall short in a camera comparison.
